Few minor points
1
The original version of TNFS on 3DO console did not have the circuit tracks. it did have a video opponent, who taunted you at the end of each segment. a couple people complained, so he was dropped for subsequent versions.
2
forgot TNFS:Skyline Memorial Edition. say what????

Very interesting article.
I have to admit that I am a NEWBIE to NFS, I have only played Undercover and Shift. As for other racing games, I have only played two others. I can't recall the titles.
I read a review of NFS Undercover, bought a copy for PC and have been a fan ever since.
It was great to read about the history of the Franchise. Thanks for writing about it.
I'm off to go find Part two now.

I'd take a proper remake of Carmageddon over NFS Shift anyday. Gaar.

I'm with you
I bought a PC when Carma 2 went out... what a game; the time I spent on the missions... and I can still hear their cries

Interesting read though I think a game may have been missed...Pre-windows there was a Need for Speed I used to play on an old 8088 computer running DOS around 20 years ago when I was in college. This was a bit after the change from monochrome monitors to RGB monitors.
