I'm confused at why people think darkslides are unrealistic
If they can be done in real life then putting them in a game makes it more realistic.
And because they can be done in real life it would make the game more unrealistic to keep them out.

Tony hawk was so unrealistic did you see all that mocap..
so unreal man.
What made tony hawk unrealistic was sounds and points..
you're all blowing this way out of proportion and stop
making threads about the same topic!
Tony hawk may seem unrealistic now but back then it was all
there was for skateboarding.. now you have gotten so far
addicted to entertainment that you are afraid of a new feature
because it may seem unrealistic.. you will flick it, blackbox
owns neversoft and it will be great.

ps3.Scharkey wrote:I'm getting so fckin sick of people saying, "you want realism, go outside and skate"...
Take it from someone who's broken more bones then you can count, maybe I want to try things in-game that I wish I could try in real life so I don't bust my sht again. Maybe I don't want to eat sht trying a back noseblunt down a hubba.
Next time you skate a 10 stair rail in skate, say * it and go do it in real life instead, then you can say that sht.
Yeah, it's great.. they're adding tricks to the game.. it's opening up 'creativity'.. but they could still seriously improve on their gameplay for a truly amazing game instead of throwing us a few tricks here and there each year like Tony Hawk..
person above me, what are you talking about? people do late shuvs/late flips every day.. why would they complain about that? it was added at the beginning of the series anyway before they showed us their trend of adding tricks instead of changing gameplay and improving on the whole game.. it's like.. import a couple tricks here and there each year to make the community happy..?
couldnt have said it better, i mean the other day i was at a skatepark just doing my thing (manuals is all i can do lol) and i just happened to roll up a little quarterpipe and i ended up eating it on it and got a fracture in my wrist.
but just because i cant skate good in real life doesnt mean i want to be stuck with skateboarding games where i can take two pushes and clear a massive 20 stair. realism would be a great thing, it would mean instead of it being a fight to make stuff look good and realistic, it would be a fight and a challenge to get tricks.
i'd rather have realism than "creative" tricks and millions of movables in a skateboarding game anyday.

Seriously though, what's wrong with Darkslides? The aren't unrealistic.
The only way they could be a downfall in this game is if they acted like adding darkslides was a huge new implement for the series.

This is really stupid because all we wanted for skate too where the injury's and darkslide's and primo's etc and now everyone's hating on them being in the next game wow you all saw a what 2 min teaser that showed a bunch of people skate'n with the one new trick shown.
I really find it sad when everyone start's judging a game from a very short teaser noone has any idea what has been added or how the full game will play the offboard at end looked slightly better but part of the video looked terrible like that ollie onto the tranny looked awkward ... but that could still be early stage i'd rather people hate or like when we get some more proper footage because really as of now we know very little other then we'll finally be able to darkslide.

Why is it Always mullen?
in case it slipped your mind he did invent it [among an insane amount of others], and then popularise it, so its only natural for people to think of him first

if you dont want darkslides. dont do them.
if you do want them, do them. simple?
btw, i wonder if you can darkslide to hippy or hippy 2 darkslide? not 4 a realistic vid but it would look awesome.

Gonz did them first. In about 89' or 90'. Go to the Thrasher site and dig around. I think Jake Phelps mentioned it, or if you ask him, he may answer it, and the dude remembers everything about skating.

Gonz did a caveman darkslide, and it was only a picture...
Mullen was the first to ollie in, and get it on film...
Mullen also took it to levels that no one else has, including switch tre dark lips, darkslides to manual ect

cem_ea_id.DOUMSLO wrote:people who gripe about realism should put down the control and go outside. I can see the gripe about realism in a shooter Game. But even those games play on your imagination, cause most of the guys who play them have never even shot a real gun in a real situation.(WAR) Think about it guys who come back from war are not to eager to pick up a war game. So can it be true that maybe the guys that make such a big deal about realism suck at skating and can't do the tricks they complain about in real life. So they want realism in this game so they feel good about themselves. Sounds like a possibility. CHEEHEE..........GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY STOP USEING YOUR PARENTS MONEY AND THEN COMPLAINING ABOUT WHAT YOU BOUGHT, LIKE IT WAS YOUR MONEY THAT YOU WASTED.HAHAHAHAHA
ouch! that was a good statement
