Things I like about the Game

1. Easier to navigate through the menus

2. Blocking and tackling are better

3. Graphics are better

Things I'd like to see Improved

1. The calling of penalties. Hardly ever called even when there clearly is one.

2. Route running and catching, and how when you throw the ball to your WR and they don't go for it. For example a quick slant they don't make and effort for it and its right in front of them, especially on deep throws.

3. How the lineman can somehow catch up to my recievers when they are clearly faster than them.

Things I like about the Game

1. Player roles

2. Rookie faces, I really like this addition

3. Trading for future draft picks

4. I also like how many players look realistic such as Michael Vick and Desean Jackson (Eagles fan as you can tell haha)

Things I'd like to see Improved

1. Superstar mode and the fact that there are not enough messages per role such as QB, there are only like 5-6 of them. It's too repetitive

2. Trade logic, I tried trading down 5 spots in the 1st round, I tried offering my 1st rounder, my 2nd round, 3rd, and combinations of 1-5th round picks and future round picks. No team accepted my offer.

3. I'd like to see a more in depth scouting combine. Instead of just selecting players to scout, maybe we could have a scouting combine I can watch of the players I choose to scout. That would be really cool to have.

I finally purchased this game around Black Friday for $30 and I think it's ok but not great. I didn't read the rest of the reviews here so some of this might be re-tread.

Here's what I don't like (or would change/tweak), and the rest you can assume I do like

1. Franchise mode cut down day shouldn't have such a major swing in ratings for those with question marks. I had a RB that was an 82?? so I started playing him on first, second and third string so I could really evaluate him. He did very well, but as of week four (maybe three) his ratings were revealed as 62 with C potential. I guess I just don't understand or something, but it just doesn't feel like it works quite right.

2. Free Agents - you should be able to mark on a watch list before the free agent period starts who you want to target so you don't get lost in the endless players trying to figure out who you want to sign. The menu takes 20 seconds to get through for one position, much less trying to find the actual player you want.

3. Scouting still stinks - I don't know how to fix it, but it's still boring. Click, release, click, release, rinse, repeat. There has to be a way to improve this. Maybe incorporate a superstar element into franchise where you play the college rookie game but only get to control like 10 guys on the field in a superstar type of way and you reveal their ratings or something. Or bring back the minicamp games and reveal ratings that way. Something better than rinse, click, repeat.

4. Play calling/commentary - probably well documented, but after a week of hearing the EXACT same commentary each game, each play, I have to turn it off. At least Madden was fun and somewhat diverse.

5. Superstar still stinks.

6. As does Online Franchise.

7. Various menus - I understand trying to streamline franchise mode to go right to the games, but why do I have to hit triangle EVERY TIME I want to pull up the franchise menu?

8. Same with play calling (conventional style, since I don't use Lame Flow) God help you if you have 3 seconds left and call Shotgun trips instead of Shotgun Spread and you're down 6 points and need to get one more play off. Hitting back drops you at the top of the list again and you have to re-scroll through all the formations to get the one you want. Where's the memory system that remembered where you were last?

9. Maybe I'm not good enough with '12 yet, but playaction and toss/sweep running stinks too. I cannot lose yards on them and am only running between tackles.

That's all I can think of for now. Just so no one thinks I'm a total hater, I actually do (for the most part) enjoy the majority of the game. Graphics are great, replays are good (when they aren't zoomed out/blacked out by random stadium stuff), presentation is good, new animations are good, momentum is good, multi-player tackling is the best its been, etc. There are a lot of things to like, but still some obvious and major improvements to make. Here's hoping the new, expanded and (hopefully) improved team can make the next leap.

Overall Grade: B-

If I owned an XBox 360 or a Playstation 3, I would certainly have downloaded the demo/When I first started playing Madden, it took me a solid month to become familiar with the controls/I spent thousands of dollars on customizable card games - PhataLerror

1. make practice actually helpful like being able to scout the next oponents offense and defense throughout the week and be able to put in gameplans that you think would work

Pros

1. Presentation – The small additions, such as teams wearing pink for * Cancer Awareness, are excellent. Team introductions, for teams that have them, are an awesome way to get pumped-up for a game against a friend.

2. Expanded rosters – The ability to take undrafted rookie free agents into the preseason is fantastic and allows for a greater depth to the game. (I haven't noticed AI opponents taking advantage of this, but I digress.) It's awesome to replace an aging veteran with an undrafted rookie who outplayed him. Injured reserve is excellent, too. All too often I'd have to revert to an earlier saved game because I wouldn't be able to release my injured player into the free agent pool so I could sign his replacement; I'd literally have no way to move forward in my franchise because the game wouldn't let me.

3. Defense – Elite pass-rushers actually get to the quarterback without being controlled by the player. This was a huge problem in earlier versions of Madden, but it seems to be fixed in 12.

Cons

1. Freezing issues – The game freezes too much, especially in key moments. The game tends to freeze more after finishing a game than at other times, thus causing me to have to re-play the entire game (the different outcomes are cool, but that's not what's supposed to happen).

2. Commentary – Gus Johnson and Chris Collinsworth are two of the worst commentators on TV and the fact that they're in this game (or that Faith Hill sings that they're the best on TV) is astounding. Johnson frequently talks about completely irrelevant things and Collinsworth consistently gets names wrong or refers to players in the wrong position (my wide receivers frequently are called quarterbacks; my safeties are frequently called defensive linemen (especially when making a stop behind the line)). It's all very patchy and seems like it was just thrown together. Sign a contract with ESPN and NFL Network and get their crews in the game. Have Erin Andrews on the sideline; have Rich Eisen do a halftime recap. It would make it much better.

3. Running the ball – If you're not controlling your own running back (I like to simply snap the ball and let him run, otherwise I'll gain 10+ yards every time; although I will throw it when I'm the quarterback) then he gets stuffed behind the line of scrimmage more often than not. Even when adjusting sliders to make it more realistic, running the ball just does not work. (However, the AI opponent can run the ball with no problems.) If I've got a 97-rated running back with 98 speed, acceleration, agility, awareness and carrying, he shouldn't get stuffed on every play. I shouldn't have to control my running back myself, especially if I'm just playing casually.

Things I like about MUT:

1.trades
2. gaming engine more refined
3. legendary cards

Things I don't like about MUT:

1. Players moving their linebackers around in a circle before the snap to confuse the blockers AI
2. I can't trade higher value cards for rarer lower value cards
3. I don't like progressive collections through out the NFL season except fantasy collections; because i end up discarding cards; that are rare in the future which are needed for future collection; just release all of the college collections in the beginning. it would save me a lot of time and effort.

I have to say i never seen this before today. How does a saftey run thru my TE 3 times and intercept the ball, and i mean literally ran thru him as if he wasnt there. I want to thank EA again for fing up what would have been a good victory. Way to go your developers are the best in the business(yeah right lol). I listen to everyone else compain about stupid things in this gm, all i want is an authentic gm that u advertise but never deliver.

Things I like about the Game

1. Graphics

Things I WANT IMPROVED

1. Wider Play Selection/WAY MORE FORMATIONS

2. Player traits is a waste of time... All the time it took to implement that crap, when you could have just added and tweaked a few Attributes... IE... "Aggression" Attribute for defenders.. High "Aggression" Rating = more ball hawk attempts and more big hits.

3. Commentary (Very stale and Unsynchronized)

Things I like about the Game

1. Overall appearance & graphics, grass stains, helmet scuffs, are great (A+)

2. Tackling & Player movement are much improved (B+)

3. Menus are smooth and very easy to use (A)

4. 3D grass & Equipment updates (B+)

Things that need improvement

1. Commentary is uncoordinated and repetative. (F)

2. Player of the game is obsurd. My QB can throw for 300+ yards with 4TDs and no picks, BUT, if one of my DBs has a pick six. He is automatically the player of the game. Even if he did nothing else the entire game (F)

3. The Patriots or the Colts are ALWAYS in the Superbowl. C'mon Man! Give other teams a chance! (D-)

4. The Raiders field does not have the baseball diamond. It did tho on Techmo Superbowl (Nintendo) (D-)

5. There needs to be more variable weather. I've played an entire season without playing in a single rain, or snow game. Suggestion: If you are connected to the internet. Have the games weather based on the actual weather in your area.

6. Grass fields in the rain should become damaged, or even sloppy. Depending on the amount of rain. The uniforms should reflect this with mud and water on them.

super star is these saddest, i really want my money back, the lead director should be fired for the work they did on super star mode. its an embarrassment to gaming everywhere.

not just that, but when i play out my two year contract think i be a free agent they auto resigned me to a 4 year 30 million, just 30 million; a 2000 yard rusher, there is only 5 of them, that every played in the nfl. madden 13 you guys better step up on all front and quit being lazy. if it wasn't for MUT and franchise this madden be a such a wasted of money. the one good thing that superstar did do right was the point system, but the short sided-ness of it all was I can be part of the 100 club and the point system does not progress the more point you put in. no offseason, it was like free play for just one player. each game is like a five min snore feast.

to think i supported you guys, and the only read i keep getting ncaa is to play the super star. at least NCAA can make a better game single player mode than superstar will every be. even 2006 would of been better than this trash.

Another shi@#y gm by EA never in my life have i seen more turnovers and freak plays then in madden 12. You cant have two of the best catching cbs drop every int thrown there way then let every player that cant catch have an int. In a year how many tip passes deep actually wind up being caught once maybe twice in a season it happened twice in one gm. You claim your gm is real but its a fantasy, nothing this gm does is real from the glitches to the stupid commentary cant wait for 2k to be back and from a serious madden fan i mean that you guys lost your way in 2007.
