I just figured out how to make localization work, i.e. to get the Russians to speak English with a Russian accent. Kaylos gave an answer http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/105/448777.page#4265242, but it didn't work for me. I put my solution later in that thread, but thought I'd repost here, since it's worth spreading the word.

Go to your directory C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\BFBC2 and edit your GameSettings.ini with a text editor (e.g. Notepad). Warning: you should make a backup copy of that file first. Fourth line down it says:

OriginalVOForEnemyTeam=1

Change that to:

OriginalVOForEnemyTeam=0

Go down a few lines and check that:

VOLanguage=0

If it's set to 1, set it to 0 (thanks, Kaylos!).

Save file. Start game. Done!

Mine was already at 'OriginalVOForEnemyTeam=0' but they aren't speaking English in-game

You mean it randomly changes between Russian and English?

Wow, weird - anyone else seeing that? Anyway, worked for me. You could also try what Kaylos suggested (didn't work for me): change it to Localized in the game itself and immediately save.

Interesting, I'll keep my ears open (or maybe your localization setting got turned off?). I know for a fact it works on Isla Inocentes.

Dumb question, how do you 'SAVE'. I change my settings to local, but no Save button. Once I go to main screen, the setting is lost

I kinda like the Russian. When the Russians cap a point it sounds like they are saying "Rocky the Red Rover, Hakeem Olajuwon.

There is no save, Padawan. Once you change a setting, it's automatically saved (unlike Battlefield 2). Or supposed to be: the localization problem here is the one exception. If you change to "localized", try leaving the page and coming back: it's back to what it was. Every other setting, however, will save, AFAIK.

Thanks for the kind words on my beginner's page. I've spent way too much time writing it up, but figured it would save someone from some of the confusion I've encountered. Anyone have suggestions on websites to submit it as an article/page for a wider distribution?

Hah, that's great; I think that's exactly what they're saying. Me, I got used to "there's a sniper" in Russian, but hearing them now speak English opens up this side of the game to me.
