Ive been trying to add servers to my favourites but all I get is that waiting for data pin wheel. any suggestions?

Yes after playing on that server go into your file Documents/bfbc2 and open the file gamesettings.ini with note pad
the last two lines are something like last game played ...anyway just copy that line into the last line that says this
FavoriteGames=
It will look like this below ....The TuG server

FavoriteGames= 3637456756,a5cf89bb-5a20-420f-9214-6397129c59d3,TuG Team | www.tugteam.com | Recruiting...;

Same problem here.

I hate that you can't just edit a file and put in the IP address. However, we now have something we can include with our server listings that people can add to their INI files.

In the search filter type in the name of the server.
When it shows up in the list add to favorites.
I have found that if there is only one or two servers
in the list it works.
