...when I do almost anything with the bands it does not detect me and tells me to stay still, hold my arms to my side, etc. I eventually have to skip the exercise because it wont detect me. Any ideas?

A few suggestions to try:
Make sure you are using good batteries
Make sure you have the sensors on correctly (if the arm one is on upside down - it won't register)
In general (I'm on the Wii), you need to make sure you hold each segment of the activity long enough for the game to register it - it will beep when it is ready for you to do the next segment - sometimes if you move too smoothly or fast it gets confused.
Listen for the beep
Put the problem activity into a custom workout where you can practice / play with it outside of your workout
As a last resort, "x" out the activity in the workout to skip it
Hope one of these helps

Do you think the wimote or the arm band is most likely the problem? Thanks.

You don't use the Wiimote very much in EASA 2, so I would double check the arm band - make double sure it is on correctly.
Good luck

I had the very same problem and found by switching off the Wii completely from the power and then rebooting from scratch, the sensitivity came back on both peripherals as good as new. This happened a second time on another day so I repeated same procedure.(both times using cardio kickstart on easy). After completing this I switched to 9week prog on easy and so far have had no probs.
Hope this might help.
