Need for Speed Racing Games

For those of us who only have the PS2 version (no online play to race against anyone else), is there no way at all to race your career cars against a friend's career cars on multiplayer, when you've both got a career saved on separate memory cards? When I set up a split screen race day, it barely offers me the chance to even use my career cars to start with (like maybe one out of the five or so events it will allow me to R1 into career, but otherwise, I'm stuck with their "pretuned" stuff), and I haven't seen any way at all to be able to load a second career from a separate memory card in order to race my cars against a friend's...
Has anyone figured out a way to do that? Thanks a lot!

Has no one tried multiplayer mode on the PS2 version that might know something about this? Thanks!
