I just wanted to make a topic for beginner tips, to help out the new players.

So, i've been playing Bad Company 2 since closed beta, but i haven't racked up many hours in the full game so dont kill me if I get something wrong, and contributions always welcome...

GENERAL TIPS:

-Spot enemies, it makes it easier for you and your team to track and eliminate them. Also a good way to warn your team members to find cover or prepare for combat, and gives you a bonus if the target you spotted has been killed. Works on infantry and vehicles. - (by NYGunnm)
-You can request ammo or health from friendly Assault's and Medics by aiming at them and pressing the select button - (by NYGunnm)
-Pins and ribbons give you extra experience points towards your rank (but not your class). - (by NYGunnm)
-You can switch kits any time you want, so you can switch your class for a medic of assault for example and drop ammo or health then switch back to your original kit (all the experience gained in the other kit will still be awarded to the kit you spawned with - example: if you spawn with Assault and switch to Medic, revive someone, the 50 XP points will be awarded to your Assault kit unlocks, not your Medic kit.) - (by NYGunnm)
-You can switch languages in the options menu, so you can actualy understand what the Russians are saying. In combat your teammates automaticaly talk (SNIPER!; Oh jesus, we've got a man down! etc.), this can help you alot if you pay atention in combat. - (by NYGunnm)

INFANTRY:

Assault:
-A good balanced kit, usefull for all kinds of situations
-Drop ammo boxes as much as you can (any time you come to an team memeber, drop a crate near him)
-The grenade launcher is a potent anti building weapon
-You have infinate ammo thanks to the ammo box, so dont hold back, keep that barrel smoking and the grenades flying.
-Late weapons particulary deadly at range

Medic:
-A infantry support kit, the backbone of any squad.
-Heal, heal, heal and heal!!!! That's your number one job, drop those health packets to wounded allies and when you're under fire, and revive downed allies. You can turn the tide of a battle without firing your gun once!
-Support weapons are effective at all ranges, and high ammo supply allows for continued fire, so remember to pin down hostiles behind cover.
-For improved accuracy but still retaining a high rate of fire, fire your gun in short bursts, under 5 rounds preferably.
-No explosive's apart from your grenades, so watch out for people hiding in windows.
-If you notice your squad does not have a medic, switch to it(Can apply to other classes) - (by S T IR A F E)

Engineer:
-A vehicle support kit, backbone of any armour team.
-Differant launchers usefull against different targets
(RPG7 is a AT launcher with the ability of locking onto homing darts, Carl Gustav is a Anti personel launcher with a ability to lock on homing darts, AT4 is a AT launcher without a ability to lock onto target darts, but can be manualy guided, much like the stationary TOW and KORN and APCs secondary weapon launchers. )
-Try to hang around a pearson using the assault class. You're ammo supply will go fast...
-The power tool alows you to repair vehicles
-Ride around as the machine gunner on APCs and tanks to pin down hostile AT and to repair the tank after it's been damaged

Recon:
-A special operations kit
-You carry C4 or binoculars (mortar strike), so you're very potent against vehicles and buildings.
-Sniper rifles have high stopping power but slow reload, carry semi auto rifles if you're expecting close combat, bolt action rifles have higher stopping power.
-Sensor balls allow you to give your team the edge in urban combat, throw that sucker in a house and see if anyone's inside before rushing in.
-Sniper rifle bullets have drop, so aim above the target.
-Getting reflex or 4x scopes will negate bullet drop, so at medium ranges, it can make it easier for you to aim.

VEHICLES:

-Never... EVER... EVER abandon a vehicle with hostiles close, unless your certain it will be destroyed or you will be able to destroy it, if the enemy captures it, your team will be at a seveare disatvantage.
-Move around to make yourself a harder target for tracer darts, UAV missles, AT missles, mortar strikes etc. - (by PrimalBanana)

Tanks:
-You're NOT invounrable
-Keep your distance and try to avoid going into confined spaces, C4 will ruin your day.
-Unless you have the secondary weapons perk, you're vounrable to infantry. Try to get a gunner.
-Your shells drop over range, so aim above enemies at range.
-Destroy buildings...

APCs:
-Eaven tough your seposedly a infantry fighting vehicle, the auto cannon isnt as good as a machine gun at cutting down enemy infantry, so dont get cocky.
-You have two firing ports on the back of the APC, if you have passangers, turn your side to the enemy when engaging to increase firepower (note, you take more damage from shots from the side and back then the front, so watch it)

Transport Helos:
-When you get to your destination, circle your target slowly and eavenly, with a manned minigun facing the inside of your circle. This will make you a hard target to hit, while still allowing your gunners a good chance of killing something
-Miniguns destroy buildings, keep that in mind
-You are invounrable to light weapons (assault rifles, light machine guns, sub machine guns and most sniper rifles exept the M95) but a Heavy (stationary) machine gun will chew you up fast, and one rocket hit will destroy you.
-You have a warning signal for incoming rockets (beeping sound), when this happens go up or down and turn in one way. This is a effective yet simple way of dodging missles.

UAV:
-You're easy prey, so stay high and move around. If you come under fire try to find cover behind hills.
-When firing the missle, the red square is where you're missle is going to hit, so keep the red square on your target instead of the centre of the screen.
-You can get road kills with a UAV

GAME MODES:

-Arm and defuse charges... PLEASE!!!!
-Do not destroy buildings that house the MCOM stations if your the defender. So no RPGs, tank guns, APC cannons, mortar strikes, C4 - anythign that can destroy a building in general.
-Destroy buildings as attacker!
-MCOM stations are vounrable to C4, but please dont do this. I know it can end a game fast, but is that realy what you want to do?
-When on defense for rush mode, put an emphasis on defending the crate that cannot be destruction 2.0'd. You can get the opposing team to 1 ticket and they could just blow the building up. - (by S T IR A F E)
-Be smart. If the crate was just armed and nobody has been killed, check the immediate area before diffusing(I.E, corners, outside of the windows). - (by S T IR A F E)
-You can order your squad to attack a specific crate by aiming at the objective marker above the crate and pressing select. When your squad does actions around it, you will get bonuses for it. - (by NYGunnm)

That's what i know, feel free to add anything in the comment section, i will add them later.

Good helpful thread. Also, you should add some general tips such as.

1. If you notice your squad does not have a medic, switch to it(Can apply to other classes)
2. When on defense for rush mode, put an emphasis on defending the crate that cannot be destruction 2.0'd. You can get the opposing team to 1 ticket and they could just collapse the buildings that can be destruction 2.0'd.
3. Be smart. If the crate was just armed and nobody has been killed, check the immediate area before diffusing(I.E, corners, outside of the windows).

Nicely done. Kudos!

Here's a bit more (feel free to copy and paste it into the original):
Spotting Enemies will help your team's recon~snipers an easier time with targets. On consoles, you can Spot enemies by pressing the Select button while aiming at them (sometimes it only takes looking in the general direction of the enemy). If the enemy is killed after being Spotted and while the orange icon is above the enemy's head, you'll get points for it (Spot Assist). Go to the Options menu and view the Controls for verification of the button functions.

During Rush and Conquest modes, there are objectives to Attack or Defend. While you are in a Squad, you can aim at the icon of the objective and use the Spot to create Attack or Defend orders. The objective icon will have extra lines around it when you are correctly aiming at the objective icon (it sort of lights up), and once orders are given the icon pulses/blinks. A designated objective icon with Attack or Defend order also has more lines, as if an "X" was placed over it without blocking the letter. While you have Attack or Defend orders, any activity that occurs within a close range of the objective will award you with more points (Kills, revive, heels, resupply, spot, etc). There are achievements/trophies that require these Attack or Defend orders to get them, as well as pins too.

The 3rd function of the Spot button: Press the Spot button while aiming at a friendly Assault in order to request Ammo, and at a Medic to ask for Health. The alternative to this friendly means to get the hub that you want is to kill an enemy Assault or Medic, pick up their kit, and give yourself Ammo or Health. (Team Killing is not necessary. Don't do it.)

To get a further understanding of potential gameplay tactics take a look at the descriptions of the Pins. Pins will award you with more points, which leads to quicker unlocked weapons and gadgets. Giving out Ammo and Health via the hubs (Assault and Medic) is always a great way to gain points and help your team. Try to put them in a location that is behind cover when possible. When you place a new Ammo or Medic hub, the last one will disappear.

After killing an enemy you can pick up their kit. Using an enemy Assault or Medic kit to utilize the Ammo or Health hub for your team is a good tactic. Then you can get your kit back or keep the one that the enemy is no longer using. You may consider using the Motion Sensor from a dead Recon's kit also. Refer to the manual or Options menu for button functionality.

Unless you speak or understand the Russian language, you will want to go to the Audio Options and change the setting to allow you to hear the in game soldiers speaking a language you can actually understand. After making this change, the Russian soldiers will from then on speak English with a Russian accent. For those moments when a friendly is chasing you around saying things to you, this will help you to understand that they are asking for Ammo or Health.

I just looked at the Audio settings.
It is called Voiceover (a team and an enemy setting), and selecting it to be Localized will enable the non-Russian language to be used.

good tips. with the vehicles might be worth adding not being stationary too long as mortar strikes will wipe you out in one hit.
