Combos are pointless it seems to me with this new one button blocking system. I try to throw Jab, Jab, Hook, and it's blocked every time. Or I throw a hook, body shot, hook, and again blocked...

Combos just seem completely pointless to me. Why don't I just throw jabs the whole time and just penetrate the guard.. or play the stupid counter game, and spam my block button.

If anyone can shed some light on this matter please tell me.. please..

Yep, autoblock is stupid.

However, it's not up to you if the jab-jab-hook penetrates the guard, it's up to the other boxer's guard/reflexes rating. Jabbing and throwing a power punch penetrates the guard randomly, depending on the boxer's defense stats and whether the game feels like it.

Terrible system, in my opinion...

Ooo!! ok.. so then the fact that none of my combo's or anything gets through is because Tyson or Ali's block rating and stuff is so high? That makes more sense.. still kind of dumb, but I get it.

For some crazy reason I have seen situations that punches slip through the guard. Well timed shots and punches in volume lead to some effective punching through the guard. Trust me its there.

So, just to see if I understand what you're saying. If I constantly throw jabs or straights, then eventually it will open up areas for my combo's to land?

DEFENCE is so important in boxing, and it is half the fun of the game for some of us. They put autoblock in, and like others have said, why dont they put in autopunching aswell? This game commited FN suicide.

come check out my post **boycott fight night champion** your opinions with thoughts please, dont just say something dumb, state your opinion and put some words of intelligence behind your point of view.

Ive played all of the fight nights. Hasnt it been like that since FNR4? I swear all u did was hold right trigger and push up to block high or down to block low. Combos didnt work cuz they would block them unless u mix it up from high to low. So i dont see the problem.

Try to concentrate on starting your combo after your opponent has finished throwing his punches or his combo and youll find a way in without a problem. This game rewards timing, not pure slugging. Footwork and distance are also very important to successful combination punching.

From my experience if you throw a few combinations together, Jabs, straights, and hooks, some can get through. If you keep throwing with no success you will get tired.

I also played against a friend off line and he threw one punch that I thought was blocked and it appeared to go through.

This may be attributed to the punchers strength and the defenders [defense skill]

Straight punches will slip the guard at perfect range... You can also hook around the guard from in close. 1 punch blocking rocks!
