As spank_thru101 pointed out in a topic made last night on Gamefaqs, there's a possible fix for the hitboxes. So I spent an hour or so testing out all sorts of values and came to a conclusion that it does in fact make the hitboxes much more precise for people with faster (5mb/s+...) connections.
Here's a video explaining how in the description with demonstrations:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erZPhcwkSw0
Copied from the description:
Are you tired of shooting people in Bad Company 2 but they don't take any damage? So was I. One poster on Gamefaqs (spank_thru101) posted a possible solution to the problem so I decided to test it out. Upon further investigation, this was also something you could edit in previous battlefield games.
Basically, add these two lines;
SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.0450000
SettingsManager.U32Set GSInterpolationTime 45
to your gamesettings.ini and settings.ini file in the BFBC2 folder.
In gamesettings.ini, add them between the lines;
IntroPlayed=1
[GstPersistence]
In settings.ini, just add it to the end of the list. Save both files.
BEFORE YOU TRY THIS, change the value to your general server ping. For me, when I refresh the list, most servers are 31-45 ping. So, I change the values to .045 and 45 for 45 ping.
Say most of your servers are 73 ping, you'll want to change the values at the end of the previously stated changes to .073 and 73 respectively because you're generaly playing on 73 ping servers.
Upon further testing, lowering the value below the server ping results in even more accuracy, and lowering it much more makes the hitboxes in front of the target.
Apparently the battlefield series tries to compensate for an average of 100ms latency by default and so the hitboxes appear to "lag behind" the actual player model you're seeing in game. This fix changes it so that the models are where the hitboxes actually are by adjusting to your average ping instead.
The reason I had captions for serverlist ping and in-game ping value is because I tried with both options. You can see that the serverlist ping was the right one to choose for the value edit and caused the hitboxes to be entirely more accurate, while the in-game value arguably made them even worse.
So far over 30 people have reported much more accurate response-time and hit detection, while I haven't had a single person tell me that it didn't work. Test it out, let me know in this topic how it works for you.
to add, I said to add it between those two entires in the gamesettings.ini because it didn't work in 2 other places I tried it. (beginning and end), so I'm guessing you can have it anywhere in the middle, that's just where I chose.
Sticked - zerk

I have arouge 60-70 ms shown in the server browser and it seems it helped a bit the hit detection of my shotgun. After few houres playing i never missed a knife. that's great! There is nothing more frustrating that stabbing your enemy 2-3 times without any succes, he turns and knife you at the 1st try.

So my average ping is also around 45. If I add those lines with the 45 modifier and go to a 100+ ping game will it still work the same way or am I just asking a stupid question...iono w/e...i just took my mcat and my brain is fried...

I would like to ask a question regarding this.
Usually i play in servers with ~30 ping, so i understand i need to change the values to 0.03 and 30.
but when i decide to play in servers with 78 ping for example? do i need to go again to the settings files and change the values to 78 and 0.078?
edit: Seems me and the guy above are asking the same question...

Well in that video it shows them in NORMAL mode first and then after this supposed FIX they are in HC mode, I find that to be the reason for it working better, Normal mode is for pu$$ies, HC mode makes the hits count unlike NORMAL where a full clip is needed to take anyone down.

I fail at getting the meaning of this post.

Yes, or just put something like 50, an average value.

Any info on wether its considered a cheat yet?
Its not really for 5mbps plus net. Its for low latency I get under 40ms with 3mbps/768kbps adsl 2+. You do need a good balance of down and upload. Ive seen 5mbps get 100ms so higher bandwidth doesnt mean low latency all the time. If your on a noisy line profile you will have interleave enabled for higher bandwidth. In those cases you have the choice of more download speed or a lower latency (on lower speed adsl etc).
I got 100ms on 1.5/256 interleave
I get 40ms on 3/768 fast path
So its about ping not bandwidth is what Im saying.

Hi. We have this guy over at the evga forums that's saying you're hacking if you use it because you're adding lines of code to the file.
His main argument is that your crappy rig and/or crappy internet connection shouldn't be compensated for by adding a line of code, but rather upgrading your hardware/internet to 'level the playing field honerably' or w/e.
Any way we can get a dev to tell us once and for all if this (or any other lines added to configs) is considered a 'hack'?
Thx in advance

haha well his logic has a problem this fix is for low latency net. Getting better net will make it worse.
