Will there be stalling ?

How are stalls going to work in-game ?

Can they be done on any ledges ?

On quarterpipes and banks ?

How are stalls going to fit into the control system ?

Can you do tricks in and out of stalls ?

I believe all we know so far is that there will be stalls, but it isn't really known yet how and where you can do them

black box could do some sweet things with a bunch of tricks or walking because there are so many buttons available because you do most with the sticks.

Any speculation on how they may implement this ?

I'm thinking Left and right bumpers maybe combined with the angle from the left analog.

Or maybe the D-Pad with the bumpers, who knows.

From the way the controls are layed out now it's hard to picture how the stalls are going to work.

Still no word on stalls, I'm begining to think that it isn't possible since it has yet to be discusssed.

They've been pretty tight lipped about stalls so far, which has me a little worried. We haven't seen any stalls or lip tricks in the footage that has been released, and BlackBox has never confirmed that lip tricks will be in the game. The last time they were this quiet about something we find out they cut walking.

I do think lip tricks and stalls will be a part of the game, and I think they will be simlair to grinds, where the type of stall you do will be based on your set up. Approaching a stall will be like approaching a grind, except slower and at a straighter angle, so as to no initiate a grind.

Idk, but since its physics based, we can try anyways, just go up to a quarterpipe and try to stall like you would in real life, do a little pivot and land in an axel stall. We probably wont find out until the demo or the real game.

Scott Blackwood confirmed that stalls were in the game in a thread (forget which one). He didn't expand on it though. But he did confirm them.

Yea but i think that it may just automatically put you into a slide or grind or make you bail if you approach on a right angle but who knows right, it's all speculation at this point. Theres already a great level of detail put into the control system but the stalls are still baffleing me as to how they are going to work if they do indeed put them in the game.

Yeah, that is good new. Will make skating mini ramps a blast. Maybe they are still working out the kinks of stalling. But if they are in there, I'm happy.

Definitive answer time,

Stalls are in. It's really pretty basic. Ride straight at the lip, curb, ledge, etc. that you want to stall on. Ollie. Land. You're stalling.

If you approach at an angle, you'll grind. If you hit it straight, you'll stall...again, it's based on the real thing.

Just like grinds, how you land determines the type of stall (or grind) you get. You adjust your board in air with the right stick (yeah, got it right this time) so the type of stall is up to you. Diasasters, nose, tail, 50-50, blunts, pivot (to fakie is sick)...it's your call, if you've got the skill.

And yes, you can flip into and out of stalls.

Back to work now...
