After my 3rd season running a team in franchise mode, I went into the offseason and eventually into the draft. When my selection came up in round one, there were NO PLAYERS TO CHOOSE FROM. I cannot make a choice, cannot skip the draft, basically cannot seem to continue my franchise.

Any advice on how to correct this problem? Do I just need to start over? If so, how to I prevent this after a few seasons with my new franchise.
