Whats good everyone. I want to talk to you guys about what you all think of 2K bringing back LINKS Golf or starting a brand new golf game. I enjoy the tiger woods series but I think it would be awsome to see 2K make a golf game. I know people always say "well EA has the PGA license" or "EA has Tiger so theres no way" etc etc. But for one you dont need the PGA license to make a top flight quality golf game. Besides Tiger isnt even the no.1 golfer in the world anymore! Look at John Daly's Prostroke Golf, its a pretty succesful game and it doesnt have the PGA license or Tiger even though it does have the always fun to watch John Daly on its cover. obviously it wasnt no where near as succfessful as tiger woods pga tour 12: the masters (awsome game by the way) but i tell you what it was really hard for me to find and i got it and its an excellent playstation move game, and at least gusto games had the guts to make a golf game and challenge the powerful golf game that is the tiger woods series. I do not know if this is true but i hear 2K still has the LINKS license so if that is infact true then thats a major step the question is when will it be announced? My guess is 2050 (sarcasim). I never played links before because i never owned an xbox but from what i hear it was waaay better then the tiger woods series, just like 2k football was consdered better then madden (i liked both). Now i know 2k is trying to focus soely on bringing back football which would be great but if 2K has tthe Links license then i dont see why not they can make a golf game esspecially if it isnt PGA licensed because it should take less development time then and you can still get famous golf courses from around the world such as Cypress Point, Pine Valley, Chicago Golf Club and fantasy courses. Also, nobody can say EA is too powerful because they lost the NCAA basketball, MLB, Nascar, NBA (for a short time), Arena Football licenses, and now people are getting legal notices in calfornia for purchasings of EAs football games! So i definently think 2K could make a golf game, a great one too. If they can pull it off ill be the first to reserve my copy. Im DYING to see a 2k golf game. Id love to see how it fares. know i sound like im hating on EA but im not trying too lol. I love both company's games and i just really want to see a 2k golf game (even though i enjoy the tiger series) just to see a fresh new golf game on the market.

JD PSG as of today canNOT be considered a successful game commercially, IMO. It is bare bones golf with a nice PS3 Move integration.

Take 2 has had the Links license for about 6 or 7 years and have no intention of trying to release a Golf game. If they did, they would have announced and released one already. And whether Links 2004 was "waaaaaay" better than TW, hate to burst your bubble but Links 2004 cannot compete with TW12 in playability (especially in Tournament difficulty), courses, features, etc. Not even close, IMO. I will say that Links 2004's swing mechanic is pretty good, but TW12 closes the gap on that considerably this year and possibly surpassed it in some ways.

Lastly, I do agree that more competition would be a great thing for the Golf videogame market.

Tim:

I do agree with you in that TW12 in totality has much more to offer than Links 2004. However, IMO the swing mechanic is still much better in Links 2004 (especially for putting) than in TW12.

If I was 2K I would not try to compete directly with EA but I'd resurrect a limited feature, online focused, downloadable game for say $20. All 2K would need to do is improve on the Links 2004 graphics, provide additional DLC courses with user created tournaments and separate leaderboards for each difficulty level.

There is SOO much that can be done now with Golf on PS3 and also with Move now.
I think the door is wide open for someone to put together the complete picture, and add the uniqueness factor too.
It could be amazing.

I have a feeling new golf games are coming soon, I just don't know which thou...

Gonna have to disagree here Mark as I find the swing in TW12 to be pretty satisfying and challenging, especially the putting....

Tim:

I understand that for the most part you like the swing in TW12 (I do too except for the putting). However, do me a favor, if you still have Links 2004 play a few holes and compare it to TW12 and then just tell me which one you prefer.

Dpeagames i totally agree with you that we need a new golf game on the market period but the reason why i say 2K is because 2k is the biggest sports gaming company in the world besides EA. 2k can have a great chance at making an awsome golf game. the only company that may have better games then 2k (besides ea) is the folks at playstation as they make quality sports games, mlb the show, nba the inside, hot shots golf, sports champions. so yes it would be great if ANYBODY can put a golf game out but i just think 2k or playstation have the best chances to make a golf game that can blow us all away.
