It's going to be an exciting Christmas,it seems.
But I'm not sure what Ed means - beta applications are opening or the beta is starting till the end of the year? I guess the second, since the game looks pretty much ready for a public closed beta.
Anyway, the game is playable if your computer can run Carbon. You should have very outdated PC which I doubt.

Too bad bringing back Bayview is on the back burner for now. Though after reading that blog it is understandable why.
I suppose quite a lot of fans are dreaming of a megamap of Test Drive Unlimited proportions, so what was said about needing loading times in-between must be due to something different about the nature of the NFS game engine. Or that having more than two detailed cities at once would simply be program overload.
However, in the hope that maybe we will see Bayview again one day via a game expansion/ sequel to NFSWO, it would be good if they added more to the city's outer bounds, for example being able to drive around the whole bay to the distant lights you can see westwards in the backdrop across the other side of the bay.

I present you all a challenge. Create a world map including Palmont (and San Juan), Rockport, Bayview, Tri-City, and maybe even Olympic City. I'm asking because I would LOVE to see what it would look like, and I don't have the ability to do it myself. I'm curious to see how it would turn out. You might have to rotate the cities a bit.

If you want to see such thing, find around 20-30 expert game developers,a big pile of money and you're free to give EA a hand for the NFS WO development.
Good luck.

Oh,sorry then.
Anyway I've seen people suggesting even more crazier ideas.
Well it would take a some, plus the map textures aren't exactly the same.

I've been playing with Bayview and I can get it in there, but where and what size is the issue. I thought Bayview to be about the size of Rosewood and Downtown Rockport. Also, I dunno what to do about Olympic city, since the maps are BLUE

Im going to have a bash at this some point today but... am I the only one who thinks the name Tri-City is the most unimaginative city name ever? I mean seriously, its like a 6 year old came up with it, kind of fails next to things like Rockport and Palmont!

Also;
I missed out some minor roads as it was a pretty hasty job (didn't really see the need spending a whole Saturday morning on it so I settled for just spending 1/2 hour!) but you get the idea of what it could look like!

Holy crap
Nice work !
I'd like to say that Tri-City not only has a bad name. Its big but boring. Nothing interesting...just wide roads and highways. I want BayView *hugs the monitor when he sees the Bayview map*

Nice map but I would add a huge highway to connect everything together and, dare I say it, canyons. Other then that, nice work!

On reflection, it would probably make more sense if I'd switched Bayview and Tricity. Right now, Bayview cuts into the mountain range north west of Tri City; if they were switched that would leave the mountains fully intact and we could have stuck some canyon tracks through them...
