Hey Silent, that is why we are asking EA to throw us loyal customers a bone and not shut down the servers right away.
I hope they will listen...

Maybe someone who is more articulate then I, would put together a request to EA from us Hard Core Loyal Customers, that have been buying the TW's PC Disk for years now, leave the servers up and not shut them down right away. Then when they start to incorporate the things we love, into the game we can crossover...

Nice idea. I'll second that request.

It is a nice option (isn't that what we are asking all the time for options). An option to allow those who won't subscribe to TWO until MP gets a turn based option. The expert players can play expert until the game play and features they have suggested are implemented. Even those that require custom courses can play TW08 until that feature is sorted out by TWO.

I'm sure some sort of notice could be added to the TW08 servers, reminding folks of TWO, with the web address listed and even notes when new features or design changes have been added to the game. A nice marketing tool for EA. Hopefully, the finance folks can see the benefits of keeping the server running, rather than shutting it down, trying to force players to subscribe to TWO, when it would probably end up chasing players to other golf gaming sites or even into LAN play whereby TWO may be forgotten by them, even when the correct features and options are added to the game.

Gentlemen...it all boils down to the target dates, ALREADY set by EA, and the projected revenue stream, also ALREADY set by EA. Miss those dates and revenue projections and all bets are off.

If that program could be adapted for each community running tours then we could continue with TW08 for as long as it would continue to run on computers. That is if Darryl is willing and has the time, I for one would think about donating my subscription fee to the endeavor before paying for an unfinished product.

Even without DRs program, folks can still hook up IP2IP without EASO. No timers, just golf as it's supposed to be. But I agree Kev, DRs program would facilitate score gathering for tours.

Great summing up of the whole thing, Glen (SirP)

If I hear the words "after the initial release" one more time, I swear.....

Oh yeah, I had my appendix out the other day, The Surgeon sent me home, blood and wriggly bits hanging out all over the place, i said hey MAN - what about some stitches??? Well he said I hadnt SPECIFIED stitches when I agreed to have my appendix out, but now that I am complaining well, just maybe I can have it ..... later...

So I jumped in a cab and told the driver my address, the driver reached over and took $50 out of my wallet, then sat there and read the paper. I said "arent you gonna drive me to my house?" he said"well you didnt SPECIFY that. He said he would drive me home... one day.....

for gods sake EA this is seriously insulting now. This was supposed to be for the PC Golfers.. remember - the guys who bought your product year in year out until you dumped them with no more product? Now we have this arcade rubbish that we could have got if we wanted to play on a console... SORRY but I have been "nice" and "patient" for ages now - when I am *********** enough, I get a little tetchy.....

Is anyone at TWO prepared to give an HONEST response to these questions, that were ALWAYS the big questions, the questions you have skirted around now for months on end because we - the customers, are TOO THICK to be told anything about your plans ???:

* Will there be a course architect (or similar ability for custom courses)?
* If so ..WHEN?
* Will there be a turn based multiplayer?
* If so ..WHEN?
* Will there be different levels of play (like the old novice, intermediate, Advanced and Expert modes)?
* If so ..WHEN?
* Will there be user set tournaments?
* If so ..WHEN?
* Will there be multiplay options for: alt Shot, 4 ball, Stableford, Skins etc?
* If so ..WHEN?
* Will the 3 click meter be speeded up so that a 4 year old cant score 24 under?
* If so ..WHEN?
* How are you going to charge for players to play this game? How much and with what sort of structurE?

And one big question:

* Is EA sports, who have supposedly just laid off a large number of employees, abandoning the whole TW Series, meaning you guys are possibly out of a job and this has been a phenominal waste of time?

I await an honest, transparent and complete reponse.

Thank you in anticipation (and one last attempt at patience).

Davy

Davy dude,

wrong forum for TW08 questions,the TWO team have nothing to do with TW08 or EASO,EA will not give timeframes for features to be added,they have done it in the past and missed the timeframe,they will not do it again because of what happened.

Just wanted to update you all on what's going on with the development team.

After reviewing the feedback we've received, we are currently evaluating our list of features for our first post-launch feature release and are working on making Turn-Based MP a top priority. As I've said before, we will not have TB MP ready for initial release, that's just not possible within the timeframe we have left before we launch. However, we will begin working on it soon with the goal to release it with our first post-launch update.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

So, based on the comment from EA, the game we have now, for the most part, is the game to be released?

I guess, as someone once said, better to say nothing than something bad, eh?

I do truly hope that the open beta shows much improvement and from what the devs said, previously, that will be after the holidays (January?).

Greg,

A heartfelt thank you for this information regarding turn based multiplayer.

In my opinion, it is by far the best news you could have provided us and am very grateful you and your development team listened to our comments, debated them and came to a conclusion that turn based multiplayer is the biggest factor in the game for many of us and are developing a schedule for implementation of this game feature.

Thank you once again and a big thank you to all your team for all they do in developing TWO into a game we can all enjoy for years to come.

I expect the Open Beta to be much improved over what we have now....

Actually, there are a few more features coming for Open Beta, the most important of which is a real leveling system that will add a new dimension to Career Mode. So the short is answer is no, the game you see now is not the game that is to be released. There will be many updates and fixes before and during Open Beta.

sounds like good things planned for the open beta. i am most concerned about pricing. if i cant afford it, thats the first step. i would think a concrete price plan would be nice, just lay the cards out on the table.

Many thanks for the updates, Greg.

I would ask the staff here to seriously consider the value of communication with us, your customers.

I have to say I strongly disagree with the threads being closed about the 08 server questions. To the customers it is obviously a very important issue, that should trigger a more appropriate response than a few words and a shut down. That is good news that there is a 30 day notice period, but instead of quoting that at us like we should have known (I didnt and have never seen it) - how about telling us where it is to be found, and maybe even making sure it is broadcast to all relevent parties (eg PGAX, 24 Hour gaming, CDT...etc). It is also important enough that the 2 sections of EA (TWO and TW08 ) should liaise with eachother about and prepare for.. which brings me to my next issue:

I also have never been impressed with the practice of saying that something that happens in one part of an organisation (EA) has nothing to do with another part of the same organisation. That is either complete twaddle, a lame way of avoiding an important issue, or simply a smart-* approach .." you posted in the wrong place...na na na na na". As part of the organisation you have one heck of a better opportunity to talk to the right people than we do.

Once again thanks, Greg - that's one of my 14 questions answered

PGAX - we actually listen
