You forgot to point out that chain link fences act like force fields... me an this enemy were shooting at each other through a mesh fence on Final Ignition... NOTHING got through... it was like the damn thing was 20 inches thick.

Going back to the RPG's... how is it that I can sometimes fire at a tank and it goes right through the damn tank like it's a hologram... then the tank fires once at me and I'm dead. The hit detection has nothing to do with balance but it's really pretty damned awful atm.

Normally I can get around 300pts minimum a match with scores up to 600pts and as low as 100pts when I'm off-game. Tonight I couldn't even hit 100pts because it was like I was firing nerf balls instead of bullets and shots that should have missed (like a 30 foot shotgun shot) actually killed. It's like all the rules of the game have gone kaput!

I used to like this game but this lag/latency whatever is getting me EXTREMELY ANNOYED like the OP. It's getting worse, not better.

tylerc2521 (EA Id).....the thing is that the rounds in the game are designed for penetration of armour, not for anti-personel. So when you shoot one into a room with people inside, in reality, the round would penetrate the wall and only debris would impact the personell inside, which wouldn't do much to them. If the rounds were fragmentation or thermobaric, then they would most likely kill everyone in the room. Sorry, but this game uses the rounds designed to penetrate armour, thus is why people don't die in a room where one is fired unless they are impacted directly.

tylerc2521 (EA Id).....I suggest going and doing some research on the explosive. The explosive is a shaped charged designed to penetrate armour. There are round designed to destroy personel, however, those rounds are unable to penetrate armour.

If you want something in the game that can take out standing soldiers, I suggest using a rifle mounted grenade launcher, hand thrown framentation grenade, or your primary weapon. Don't expect a shaped charge to kill anyone around where it impacts since that is not what the RPG round in the game can do. It's for piercing armour.

A RPG missile is not meant to take out troops,it is meant for vehicles,you don't need fragmentation for that.

The grenade's you shoot with the rifles is called a SIMON Breach Grenade,made for penetration of doors and thin walls:

'The system consists of a bullet-trap tail section which slides over the muzzle of the rifle, an explosive mid-section and a front standoff rod. The grenade is propelled by a normal ball or tracer round to a maximum range of 30 meters and is detonated by the impact of the standoff rod against the door to be breached, the standoff distance allowing the blast wave to affect as much of the door surface as possible, negating any need to aim for hinges or locks.'

And only use the rpg when you have no choice,use your gun to shoot someone...I only use the rpg for vehicles,blowing a wall in buildings to clear out hiding enemy soldiers and to damage the gold crates.

here you go folks, i think i have a way to end this RPG debate once and for all... ive done a little research on the matter and i came up with something that you might like to see.... this is a complete list of the 4,000+ coalition casualties confirmed and reported by the Department of Defense....

notice that out of them you only find a small overall number that are attributed to RPGs, and about 90% of them are reported as "when the vehicle/HMMWV that he/she was riding in was struck by a RPG."

i believe this to be irrefutable evidence AGAINST the RPG being used as an effective anti personnel weapon on a regular basis.

CAUTION ADVISED PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE REAL PEOPLE THAT HAVE SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES SERVING THEIR COUNTRY.

they have specifications for rifles, smg's, lmg's, grenade launchers, and even anti-tank weapons

how many times have we said we dont care what it is SOPOSED to be used for. if you shoot a rpg into a room of 4 ppl some should die. end of story. I know its soposed to pierce tanks, but i know the splash damage sucks in this game.

funny, i was just realizing how appropriate this thread title actually is because it cuts both ways...

i am extremely annoyed that just because they have the one shot kill short range weapon, people that play demo class think that they have some sort of entitlement to have something that can kill at long range with one shot also.... get over it already.

and thats why this is a VIDEO GAME not war. if you made a video game like real war. everyone would have 100+ deaths a game. wait, no you wouldn't you would have 1 death. and thats it, cuz in war, theres no respawn

The trick is to not shoot the ground at their feet like it's Halo or Quake, but to hit walls and other destructables (other than vehicles) that they're standing next to. Launched grenades and AT rockets do terribly in open ground, but lay waste to people who are hiding inside or around buildings.

Next time you spot somebody inside a window or behind a wall or fence, put a rocket or M203 into the wall near them and you'll do quite a bit of damage if you don't kill them outright.

And save the direct hits for vehicles and snipers that have worn out their welcome at a particular spot.

well obviously nade launchers arent anti-vehicle, they do little to no damage to tanks. Why would the military design an anti-building weapon??? (they only need to kill) So that only leaves Anti-personnel... When I hit someone on the feet I want them dead, or at least moaning because their legs got blown off :p

speaking of anti-building weapons, i wish they had put in the AT4-AST (anti-structure tandem) its a thermobaric device that penetrates the wall of a building, goes in, and BOOM! building reduced to rubble. on another note, i wish you could completely level buildings (Red Faction: Geurilla will be AWESOME) 10 pound c4 satchels for the demo class instead of rockets would be sweet too. throw one under a tank or in the front door of a building and, BOOM! RUBBLE!

adding a lot of splash damage would quickly turn this game into Resistance Online with LAARK whores, I think the explosives in this game is just fine, plus it should actually be pretty hard to nail a guy with a RPG on a consistent basis.

Why don't we just get everyone to stand in a line for you. Isn't that what you really want? Get all your enemies and teammates in a big circle and fire your anti-tank weaponry at them? hmmm We can even run and try to catch your live grenades!! Wouldn't that be fun!!! I hope one day that happens to you, cuz when the game gets too easy, it gets boring. As does your whining, ignorance, and your feeble excuses for teamkillings. I look forward to our next encounter, if your on my team, I'll go and stand behind the tank you want, so you don't have to chase me.
