R there any EA admins still even READING this thread???? the last EA admin comment was made about 3 weeks ago and asked about what kind of EA accounts people had silver, gold, free... REALLY

Well just to update you a little on the mid-game freezes, I've noticed that when a player inexplicably freezes up, (as it has been known to happen in almost 50% of my games), IF that player leaves the game CONTINUE for the other players. I've seen this happen at least 3 or 4 times and once I actually explained to the froozen up guy with my mic asked him to kindly leave, he did and the game kept going....until next turn and another guy got froozen up and this time he didnt leave, I got sick of it and left.

I guess what I'm trying to say is PLEASE FIX THIS GAME, it's been what??? 2 month since release PATCH IT, FIX IT.

I write on behalf of many beleaguered individuals whom have downloaded Risk Factions only to find that their $10 investment (800 live points) was entirely worthless. After blazing through the campaign mode which was much fun, my brother and I jumped onto live to play against each other in Risk like we did when we were kids.

After setting multiple games up (somewhere in the neighborhood of 15), all ended with the same result...the game locked up. Factions and Classic mode. At different points. During set up. During game play. Towards the beginning. Towards the end. Your game locked up and failed miserably.

So, I did what any savvy individual would and jumped online to see if my problem was isolated or shared with others. After all, I don't pretend to know everything there is to know and could have been setting something up wrong perhaps.

Boy...do I wish I would have done that about 4 hours earlier.

You have released a game that lies about the functionality expressed in the Xbox Marketplace. And I quote:

"Online Multiplayer 2-5"
"Co-op 1-5"
"Content Downloads"
"Leaderboards"

I can't play online without it locking up. I can not play Co-op modes without it locking up. I can't download content. I can't access leaderboards. This game is currently fatally flawed and should not have been released to the Xbox Marketplace. I have serious problems with each and every aspect of these false claims.

Most of the time a patch would fix my qualms and I would get over it. But, as I browse the EA forums, your own admins have gone MIA after being barraged by many complaints (see my forum reference below). This has been a problem for over two months and there still has yet to be any source of recourse.

I demand a refund. A refund on behalf of every individual in your own forums whom have been repeatedly dumbfounded by the lack of help or a patch released by your own EA admins. If I actually had a hard copy of this game, it would be promptly returned to the store I bought it from. Fortunately for you, this exist only in the digital realm.

If no recourse is made, I will ensure that I take the time out of my day to make sure every individual knows. I will make sure Microsoft is made aware of these issues. I will craft emails to IGN, 1UP, Xbox Magazine, and any other source that is willing to listen to ensure no more individuals get scammed out of their hard earned money. I will not stop until I have pursued every viable option made available to me. I will make it my hobby.

I sincerely encourage you to respond and speak your peace. I assure you, I have never been so fired up over $10 in my life. Why? It's morally wrong to continue to sell this broken piece of software for money to unknowing individuals.

Derek Oddo

My email sent to EA. Will let you know if I get any refund for this. This is absolutely asinine and unacceptable.

Very good email, I am interested to hear EA's response. In fact it's made me think of an interesting topic. If everyone really thinks that in the future all purchases will move towards digital download as standard, then situations like this will become more common, and what happens to refunds? Microsoft being the monopolising ****s they are, have a strict "no-refund" policy on everything bought on their store, so would a total shift to download only result in a complete and utter loss of consumer rights?

Hello Derek ,

Thank you for contacting EA Technical Support.

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties, and apologize for any inconvenience. Sometimes certain configurations can conflict with your game. Set any controller, sound, and video settings to their default setting. This can be done deleting the game's settings information from the hard drive. Try playing the game again.

This could also be an issue involving corrupt game save files. You will need to remove game related save data by following the below given steps:-
1. Power on the Xbox without a game disc inside to display the Xbox dashboard.
2. Select Memory and press A
3. Select Hard Disc and press A
4. Scroll through the save games until you find your specific game.
5. Press the A button while selecting a files to delete them.
6. Confirm deletion when prompted.
7. Repeat until you no longer see any of the game files left on the Xbox hard disc.
8. Restart system with game inside. Try running your game again.

This issue can also be due to any NON-OFFICIAL Peripherals connected to your console. Please unplug all non-official peripherals connected to your console. The easiest way to ensure this is to unplug any peripherals except for the official licensed controllers that came with the system. This includes any memory cards or network adaptors. When the console is starting up it will calibrate the controllers. Do not move the thumb sticks or press any of the buttons until the EA logo appears.
Example of non-licensed equipment manufacturers:- Nyko AirFlow, MadCatz MicroCon, Mad Catz Dual Force 2.

If the issue persists, try clearing console cache, follow these steps: -
1. Locate the System section of the Xbox 360 Dashboard.
2. Select Memory, select Hard Drive, and then press Y to view the device options screen.
3. On the Controller, press the X, Left Bumper, and Right Bumper buttons in this order: X, X, LB, RB, X, X
4. You will be prompted to confirm system maintenance, select Yes by pressing A.

I hope that resolves the situation. If the issue still persist then Please don't be hesitate and write back to us along with your gamertag.

If you have any other questions, then by all means feel free to let us know. You can also refer to our extensive Self Help Knowledgebase at http://support.ea.com for common technical questions.

This was the email sent back to me yesterday. I've yet to respond because I wanted to be sure I exhausted every possibility they offered up.

I can say that I did everything the support rep stated and don't use any peripheral outside of Microsoft. I was able to get 2 complete games in last night! Hope, indeed, but it has since gone back to the old ways of crashing and generally not working.

Sincerly aggravated, so I will hold on the email back to them so I can use my words nicely. That said, maybe someone here has had this happen. My optimism has once again turned to pessimism.

Yes I got pretty much the exact same email even I was actually asking them questions and expecting answers which lead me to believe that they don't really read emails and just answer with this or similar generic troubleshooting steps emails, I emailed them again with a simple yes or no question (is EA working on a patch for risk factions) they just said they " are aware of the problem" and offered a 20% discount code for their store...problem unresolved.
(how much is 20% off games that can freeze up at any time worth?)

Seriously EA I pretty much know it's not an xbox problem, people have tried your troubleshooting steps, clearing the cache (by the way your steps on clearing the cache is for the old xbox, the newer elite doesn't have to do that awkward X, X, LB, RB, X, X thing) but anyway the problems lies with the game. The mid-game freezes happen so regularly that I CANNOT believe that Ea admin could not experience it themselves by just playing a few games. Yes it doesn't happen all the time but it happens a lot, I didn't play the games for a whole week cause I'm afraid of it freezing up finally gave it a go and frooze up 39 minutes into the game.

I don't even know what to do about it, if I email support I just get troubleshooting steps or "yeah we know about the problem, here's 20% off, that's not what I want. I would like someone to offer a little more detail about what EA is doing to fix a faulty product that was released before it was ready to sale. I want EA to tell us they are working on a patch and possible release date for that patch.

wait...first I would like an Ea admin to be even bothered to read this thread ONCE A WEEK, I guess that would be a starting point

I have the same problems - is there still no patch?

This game is so buggy it pisses me off..

Today I won a 5 player ranked match (people started quiting when i was winning) and I didn't get the achievement. The game also froze like 5 times when people quit the game and i had to wait about 5 minutes everytime for it to go to next player.

Yesterday when I was playing my friend attacked my 40 troops with his 20, first it went to 30-10, and then suddently all my 30 troops disappeared at once and all his 10 were left.

The game hasn't frozen to the start menu in my xbox yet, but it did with my friend's xbox everytime, until we started logging everyone out, starting the game and then logging back in.

And yes please also patch the quick combat so we can retreat.

I totally agree with the freezing and the quick combat retreat thing.
Just to let you know, the 30 troops dying was probably due to a SUPER OVERKILL, as in triple 6. I wasn't sure it could happen on defense but I guess if defender is using the defence die or missile he could roll a triple 6
A super overkill kills everything weather it's 2 armies or 100.
I do think it's a little silly to lose 30 armies in one roll. to unbalanced for massing big army.
overkill should be x2 (kill four)
super over kill x 4 ( kill eight)
or something like that but hey I'd really rather they fix the FREEZES
or put in a cancel option during quick battles
before they change that rule.
But I'm pretty sure we're all dreaming if we think they gonna patch it.

Okey thanks Ahotep!

If that's indeed "a feature" and not a bug then it's even worse.

The game is already more random than the board version, I don't know who came up with the idea that "the more random a game is, the better it is", since I'm pretty sure not many gamers agree on that.

I think it would be better to have less points coming to people on the lead (like territory/continent bonuses, city/capital/barrack/missile/temple etc..) instead of trying to balance the game by punishing their well playing with extreme random events.

But I still love the game and even with it's problems it's well worth the 800pts.

As a consumer that just purchased your Risk Factions game on Xbox Live and I am very upset. It seems that 3 out of 5 games I play always result in players getting disconnected or the game itself completely freezing up in the process of switching turns. It also happens a lot when someone completes the 12 minerals objective. This is a great game and all of my friends would gladly rate it 5 stars if you guys would PLEASE fix these bugs. Thank you.
