Anyone see this announcement this morning? The game is supposed to come out this fall. There are a handful of screen shots on GameSpot and Daly is to promote the game at E3.

I can't imagine it competing well with TW franchise, but who knows?

Why wouldnt this compete with Tiger Woods? on tiger every shot feels the same and the game hasnt improved that much.

Dalys prostroke looks good and promises more realism, i expect also given the comments regarding the control that it will be move controller compatible on launch which will be incredible.

To be honest i am looking forward to this as tiger it to samey

The previous version failed miserably from a commercial standpoint as it focused ONLY on simulation/hardcore users with its interface.

TW11 for PS3 will also have motion control when the PS3 Move ships....

I bought the first one and enjoyed it, and I'll probably buy this one. I liked the physics and the gameplay, and seeing how it's at a budget price, I can buy both Tiger and this.

The John Daly game will be very sophisticated. It will come with a breathalyzer and you will have to blow a 2.0 before you can start playing. It also comes with a free carton of Marlboro Lights.

Wow, the breathalyzer would be sweet!!!

Since I prefer sim to arcade, I may give it a look as well. With true view/aim in TW11 that will feed my sim hunger.

Really looking forward to Tuesday.

Yes, it failed. But, there were many reasons to that, not just that it catered to just "hardcore" players. No online was the big killer for it. If it had online, more would have played it for sure. The graphics were awful. But it had a course creator. Now, give it that creator and the ability to share, a bit of a graphical upgrade and online play with good options and you've got a great game.

I hadn't heard about it, but it makes my day to see that this is coming. I think it will compete with Tiger. Competition is good.

Yep, what you said is pretty much spot on. The graphics were awful, however the gameplay was very challenging and the physics were great. I really liked how you went into a first person view and could open the club face with one analog stick and swing with the other to flop it, or swing with both analog sticks for extra weight shift/power but decreased accuracy. There were so many great ideas, and I hope they get it right this time. The course designer was pretty nice in the first one as well, and I could see a CA being a big selling point in this one.

Yea, the swing mechanic was absolute brilliance. Really forces you to think out your shot and execute. If you wanted to hit a chip you didn't select the shot type, you set up for it with your stance and the swing. Really gave you a sense of accomplishment when you hit one stiff.

But yea, graphics were bad. PS1 graphics. But, judging from some screenshots I've seen, they're going to be much better this time around. Still though, even with the bad graphics if it was online I'd have probably played it till the day they shut off service for the first Xbox.

Biggest boom for it could be if they still include the course designer and allow you to share them with others. Avatar Golf (indie Xbox title) does it well. There's literally hundreds of courses out there created by players that you can download.

Either way I'm geeked. I think Tiger is going to be the best it's been in years and now Pro Stroke coming.

Totally agree, and I do think there is room for both titles. No such thing as too much golf, right? Prostroke seems to be reasonably priced at half the price of Tiger, so I'll definitely be picking up both.

I rented Prostroke Golf 2007 for my XBox when it first came out. I saw some potential in what they were trying to do with it, especially bringing the weight shift into the mix. I just never could quite make the connection to experience what it was supposed to deliver, 90% of the time. It just felt a bit cumbersome to someone like me, with average, at best, thumbstick skills.

The presentation of the game was also a bit dry. It didn't have as dynamic an environment as it should have had for a game with such a progressive interface. I also felt the game lost its fluidity in the putting game, both in execution and presentation. It felt like two subgames that were awkwardly linked together.

My attitude about what I saw in Prostroke Golf 2007 doesn't dampen my enthusiasm for the forthcoming XBox 360/PS3 version. Gusto Games (the developer) might be able to pull off what they set to accomplish on the last gen consoles with this generations consoles, particularly with motion controllers. We've already seen the Move announcement for JDPG, won't it be ironic if O-Games becomes the first publisher to support Natal in a golf game? I have a feeling that announcement is forthcoming at E3.

Competition is a good thing... from my experience, it makes everyone step their performance up to a level it wouldn't have reached without it.

I wouldn't pay $1 for it if even 1 cent of it was going into John Daly's pocket.

Can't stand the man.

Now, he's suing a children's charity for $100 million dollars. Nice.

If he hadn't gambled and drank away every penny he's ever made I might have more respect for him. But, the man is a loser.

Ahh, who cares who's on the cover really. If the golf is good, then it's good. I figure they picked Daly for the cover for a few reasons. He probably comes pretty cheap..lol. And outside of Tiger, there really isn't another marketable name in the states to put on it that will actually help them sell copies.

Pro Stroke Golf has been confirmed as having 16 courses (including The Belfry ), and will have online play for up to 4 players.

Both of which are great pieces of news. I was fearful that with a much lower budget than EA, the new Pro Stroke game would only offer about half a dozen courses.

Hopefully the PC version will have a course architect.
