there is an option to turn off the caddy in games in tw13, so im wondering, does that turn off the putt preview as well? in my opinion it should, the putt preview is the caddy isnt it?
Ask a question and roll your eyes...doesn't really give much desire to help when you are mocked at the same time your help is requested. I mean really, I've come on here and tried to answer every question I'm able, spent time writing a blog that I hoped would address the types of questions I knew gamers would have, and still get grief in advance for a question that I can easily answer....the real question is do I even want to answer it. Would you? back at ya!
Caddy and putt preview options are separate. So 1 on, 1 off, or both on, or both off. The 4 difficulty levels have their defaults, straying from those defaults but you in a 5th difficulty called "custom".

Sim is the way to go. So a question I have is if im online i prefer the tougher difficulties for a more sim experience. So if I join someones session on say Amateur, what will have changed as far as difficulty? will mid air spin be used? or will formulas work on amateur or is all that stuff pretty much gone? i just know more people online will be playin simple difficulty so im tryin to destinguish what changes as difficulty modes get harder. Im stoked for the demo. im wakin up early tomorrow, watchin golf all day. ProAm looks entertaining
Welcome back!
Most online will play Amateur which will have afterspin, putt preview, and a far more forgiving swing mechanic (think laser shots at the cup from 200 yards out) so performance at that level is really about adjusting your spin midflight to get holeouts. The highest difficulty, Tournament, has the most sensitive swing mechanic placing a high premium on shot execution and choice. Also putting requires far more "touch" and no putt preview so you have to trust your instincts when the game is on the line.

Will I still be able to set 95% of my shots (except pitches and punches) to be a full normal swing. Without shortening this swing arc thing. Can I loft and choke. If your playing "real" golf like everyone says this mechanic will try to mimic, then these are all options you have on the golf course to free yourself to just swing away. Thanks.

Yes, full swings are the norm...shot execution is the name of the game not math. You can loft and choke by moving your feet and where you strike the ball. Will the game mimic EVERYTHING a real golfer can do via a joystick and/or button presses? No, never, not even remotely possible. Is the game more fun and a completely different experience with the new swing mechanic? Yes!

Thnx oblong. If anything the new mechanic should be fun to get used to. And definitely with the RLCs reduced and the focus out I'm sure ill be playing more tourny mode stuff. Now if the ball goes 10yds right at least I know "I" hit it 10yds right. Thnx again.

Oh wow, I missed that. Next time try to line up Community Day events with Holly mo-cap sessions...please?
So is she a playable character? I'd rethink the whole caddy situation if she was selectable as one. Any chance of including bikini's in the Pro Shop? So many important questions need answering!!!

Now I'm not sure of this bolded statement is a shot against the TW11 true aim feature but if it is then that pretty much exemplifies what is wrong with this series. Simplify the series to a point where the gamer doesn't have to think at all, he just has to mindlessly swing a joystick back and forth after mindlessly moving an aiming marker that decides all your shot workability. PGA golfers and thier caddies are doing math constantly on the course when they take out thier notes or when you see a caddie pacing off yardages in mid tourney. Trying to figure out club selection is the beauty of the game at the pro level and how many times do those PGA golfers (even with caddie help) screw up by picking the wrong club and overshooting\ undershooting the green. This element (along with the more sensitive TSC) would add a welcome difficulty into the online component.
Making it as remedial as possible is fine for those who want it but there's absolutely no harm in giving other gamers the option to think on the course ie: giving the option to get rid of the aiming marker for those who want it a la TW11 true aim (or true view whatever it was called) which had been an implemented feature so the coding has been done.

@YD...The way you describe it here is exactly how we implemented it. The key to the new Total Swing Control feature is that it is extremely layered in functionality. Yes...You can just fire and forget like in previous years if you want, however, those who take the time to study and craft their shots using the new mechanics are going to reap the rewards of some amazing results.
We also have a new settings system in the game this year that lets you mix and match individual settings like never before. So in regards to Tru-Aim statement, I think you will be please with what you can do in TW13.
