Guys i really need your view here... Kinda noob here.
Ive just installed Shift into my Studio XPS laptop and it was working well until about 30 mins of playing it shows theres error and it exits back to the desktop screen... I relaunch the game and when ever its about the start racing, the same problem occurs....
Ive this spec in my PC,
Intel Core2Duo CPU P8600 Processor 2.4 Ghz
4 GB RAM DDR3
ATI mobility radeon HD 4760
HDD 500 GB
Vista Home Premium 32-bit
I do not know what to do to solve this problem... My system performance meets more than the requirement of the game but still i kept getting the problem... I read about the catalyst, where do it go and how to update it... Please enlighten me, really wanna play this game real bad...

monster: I searched the ATI website and there are no 32-bit Vista drivers for ATI mobility radeon HD 4760. Are you sure this is the graphics card you have?

2010 is comming and we are still waiting for a proper fix for this unfinished, bad coded, poorly optimized, pseudo racing game... I feel sorry for all of us, which run fast as hellz to buy this racing experience so called Shift, i feel sorry about us for trusting in a company which clearly gives a f.u.c.k about customers needs & complains. Im posting in this thread long time ago and to say the truth, keep watching the same bullsh1t, looks like they took our money and run away like a vulgar thieves. I've had to hear unbelievable things as: Overclock your rig dood, Radeon drivers are the guilty ones, Making a patch its not as easy as you think... and so on. When the real thing is that this game shouldnt be released till this year end (ATI users mostly). Almost 4 months has passed and theres nothing new under the EA sun...

Hello @ ALL!
So I didn't read all the posts, but I had still problems with my HD 4890 too. But then I disabled all the driver based functions of the CCC and only used the ingame options and it runs perfect!
Try it! I had grafic crashes and hard grafic bugs with the options of the CCC!
>Anti Aliasing - Application controlled
>Anisotrophic Filter - Application controlled
>Catalyst A.I. - Deaktivated(looks BAD), Advanced(looks BAD) but Standard is okay.
>MipMap-Detail - HighQuality
>V-Sync - Always ON
>Adaptive Anti Aliasing - Quality
> OpenGL - disabled
Overclocking by the ATi TrayTool @ 885Mhz Core Clock and 1015Mhz RAM Clock with a Voltage of 1,313V. Fancontrol by this tool too - my GC temperature grows with the CCC controled Fanspeeds to high up! The shown standard Fanspeeds were very bad at 100°C 100%...?! What?! Now it's at 85°C on 100% RPM - and the temperature never arrived this hight of temperature - LOL! But before it does!
That's all from me, bye!

What's your fps like on Toyko Club with 16 opponents?
A few similar fixes have been mentioned in the past, but haven't made much of a difference when Shift is at it's worst.

You people simply dont learn. I dont understand those idiots that pre-order or run to the store to buy the game as soon its released and then complain about it. For crying out loud, download the game from torrents, see if you like it and if everything people asked for was included in the game and then buy it.
Me personally will never buy a game from EA again. They dont give a crap about consumer. For them its all about quick money. Wake up people. Thats what torent sites are there for. And the best part is, they can do jackshite about it.
So untill they start listening to us, Happy Downloading.

Hey - so I've test it and a friend of me had a look on the Framerates (by FRAPS).
So, they sometimes decreasing from ~75fps(50-75fps on average) to ~35fps = still playable, no lags or stottering. But this I've got tested with V-Sync aktivated - hehe, I've test it with V-Sync deaktivated and WoW from ~120fps(95-120fps on average) to ~60fps = still playable too, but not that much, it's sometimes fuzzy and out of focus, a bad looking - really! I know why I've got V-Sync aktivated ;-P! I play with 8x Anti-Aliasing and 16x Anisotrophic Filtering @ 1280x1024... could it be caused by my resolution? Is my resolution lower then your's?
Tryed someone the 3xPuffer Size for OpenGL? Or checked someone the differences between the RAM-Size of the GC's? At my HD 4890 is it 1024Mb-RAM.
My other Hardware isn't the best too! ASUS P5B Deluxe, with an Intel Core 2Quad Q6600 G0 Stepping @ 3,0Ghz and 3072Mb-Ram (2x 512Mb G-Skill and 2x 1024Mb Corsair) both at 666Mhz - higher will demage the RAM, I've to stay on the highest Standard-Clocks.
But that could caused by my GC, it isn't the badest one and of cause not with my overclocked values. At my system I can see that framerate brake-ins too, so I can understand what you're meaning and exactly, what the problem is.
The Game is hard stuff for the hardware - not as much as CRYSIS - but nearby sometimes!
I hope for all of you Gamers, that this problem is as fast as it is possible resolved!
And I hope, that my startproblem with 2 Race-Events is as far as it is possible resolved too! I hate, that I can't drive and finish this races, it is soooo bad! Won't play further more, if I can't complete those Races!
Greetz@ALL - Cyber, I'm out!
I'll make an Ingame-Video for you, where you can see my settings and of cause, how high my framerates are. For all who can't believe me - but note, that the game is running slower with the recordoption of FRAPS aktivated.

Yabbadi yabbadi yabbadi.
And releasing a game that you can't play is not a violation? Let me sell you this car... if you wear Nike shoes, it won't work! You bought a car that gets you nowhere. Fair? Some stores give you your money back, others dont, and EA couldn't care less.
Unless you work for EA it's worthless to "wear the shirt" of the company. In any case, I've said it before. Releases like Shift make me wanna download stuff before I actually buy it. Lets go back to the car example, let's call this a "test drive". I think it's fair to know if you're satisfied with a product before you buy it.
If you go buy clothes, you try them on first. If you go buy a TV, you get to see it working beforehand in the electronics shop. If you go buy a cellphone, they test it right in front of you before you take it home. Why does software have to be any different?
Its time to bring back shareware perhaps

That's not the Thread Theme! Back to the point please... LOL!
It's sometimes possible, that games are running after I use a Crack - that's illegal too, but if I won't throw 60€ out of my window or burning it down - so I try a Crack and if the game is running after that I'm very happy! - NfS Shift is one of those games... what can I do out of this? Ask the Support of EA? - Yeah, that I could if I know they would fix this, but they don't - So after every Patch I try to run the game without a Crack, if the game don't start I try one - and then it runs - I don't know WHY the game don't run with the original EXE and with the original DvD... doesn't matter so long I can play it with other ways! That's what I think! HOW I play belows to me - they (EA) don't care about me as a user - they earn my money that's all they need and want. If I got problems, I've to clear them - they aren't interested in.
I've got a thread about 2 Game Events wich I can't start and NO posts! Can't be possible, that 100.000.000 Users don't have this problem - but me! EA Moderators don't answer too... but I know, that if they are making a new patch, is this stealing time - it need time, then they send their new patch to microsoft and microsoft test it - this needs 7 until 10 days, after that, EA for example becomes the OK and the right to release it - good thing will have time - drink a cup of tea and wait.
They have dates for a release of a game - that is a rule - and some patches are released at the same day as the game, so that's because, they haven't enough time to insert that patch to the game install before the release - this is depending on the investigators or/and sponsors ... they got the money and they say what's up! EA isn't bad - they only got bad investors or/and bad sponsors.
Next thing is the making of the game - you don't think really, that only EA is doing all the work or what?! They're working with other companies together and if there's somewhere a problem, EA can't change it - EA is the *man* on the front and earns all the good reflections from us and of cause the bad. About a few bugs, is the game nice to see - fantastic grafics, crazyness driving feeling with adrenalin pure! I like this game a LOT and if I can't play storymode further, the game gives me other chances to be played - driving old and winned racing events for earning more money, is one possibility - Quickrace for example an other! Hey, I got one race where I've to turn 4 opponoments around and i haven't done this until yet - I can't get it - is this a BUG too or an inability from me?? I don't know... EA what's your meaning?...

EA are a cheating buch of cowboys.
I like the car analogy.
@ bobdihi - There is nothing nieve about buying a car (game) that all the magazines and websites recommend. I've not suffered from one of EA's clunkers in the past, but I definately won't be handing them another penny of my money in the future.
C'mooon patch number 2. Show me the money...

I totally agree. Pirating a game is as much illegal as selling a game that doesnt work. They brought it onto themselfs.
Im sick and tired of those EA wankers.
