you're running it as admin, not just using an admin level account

That's possible, since I don't try to configure all of that Windows account/permission stuff. It's just a home machine.

How would I find out if that's the problem? I right-clicked the program shortcut and gave everyone full access, and then I did the same after clicking the button for All Users. Same result; the program still crashes instantly. Do I need to log in differently, or assign admin privileges to the current user, or ... ?

Here is a fix that was posted on another thread here for most all seemingly video card-related issues. This may be your solution. It certainly worked for me.

"very simple your documents/tigerwood08/carrer/player/your player/confidence/then right click on holetype file priorities select read only apply and thats it"

Think it's better to delete the HoleType.tcn file, play one hole so it recreates itself (much smaller)
THEN go and change the properties to Read Only

that way you've removed the large file completely that was slowing things down

I have TW07, not 08, and I'm not finding any confidence folder or holetype files. Are there similar large files for 07 that could cause the same problem?

no, there's no similar 'feature' in tw07
sorry, missed the 07 part you mentioned on the previous page

the 'run as admin' thing is part of the User Account Control system used on vista

the UAC only lets you have admin privileges when you need the,m, otherwise you're a standard user

You can Run any program as Administrator by just right click it and select Run As Administrator (option with security shield).

try the above - find TW2008.exe in the /bin folder, right click etc

Sorry, I missed that you were using TW07 as well. Follow the subsequent users suggestion & let us know if it helped.

Thanks very much for the suggestion. I get the "allow permission" prompts now, but the program still crashes instantly as soon as it tries to run.

I'm eager to try any other suggestions, but I'm also prepared to give up. It's unbelievable to me that I have two fairly new, not exactly bottom-scraping PCs, one with XP and one with Vista, and this game will not run on either of them -- especially since plenty of other demanding graphics programs work fine. I've completely lost respect for EA Sports and will never buy another game from them. Giving them money is pretty much the same as buying lottery tickets, except the payoff isn't quite as great in the unlikely event that you get a winner.

I have done some research on 7300 Le and if you got it to work you would not like the frame rates anyway. It was the bottom of the line in 06. Im running 7600gs and it works fine on auto settings. If I set it to manual and start turning things up it slows down. You can get 7600gs pretty cheap right now.

Based on what I have seen on these and other TW08 PC-related forums, I can't recommend any nVidia card right now based upon the feedback.....I have tried to contact the nVidia Product Manager for issues like this and no response yet.....

I play TW08 flawlessly using an Nvidia GeForce 6800. The tip that solved ALL of my problems was the following:

Go to "your documents/tigerwood08/career/player/your player/confidence", then right click on holetype file priorities & select read only apply.

That is good to hear, but it is not related to the numerous users complaining of the game crashing and not starting with various nVidia drivers. The number of nVidia users complaining about stability dwarfs the number of AIT users complaining. I wish nVidia would at least acknowledge these driver issues.....

You know what's funny. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 plays just fine on an Intel 945G Integrated Graphics Display. Even though the game does not list that as a supported graphics adapter. Its amazing what you learn each day when you fiddle around with it for yourself.
