I didn't. The PC version will be coming out sometime next year and it very likely won't be called TW09....

How about a straight and reliable answer from the EA team? The uncertainty and on going guessing BS is annoying at best. Anyway, why give up such a worthwhile PC game that has no serious rival to date (not even ProTee 2009, which lacks many winning features in the TW series)? People may keep bitching about the game's shortcomings, but the truth is, the EA TW golf game is at its core an outstanding achievement worthy of praise. Game play, user friendliness, and the variety of courses (whose graphics could be improved, especialy crowds and backgrounds that are often subpar) are winning elements that i find compelling and which keep me coming back for more. If EA sports lets me and the multitude of other TW game fans like me down, that would be a sad and shameful act of cowardliness and betrayal.

When there is something to announce, EA will respond. The next PC game is in the concept stages at this point in time.

The uncertainty and on going guessing BS is annoying at best.

What "uncertainty and ongoing BS" are you referring to?

Anyway, why give up such a worthwhile PC game that has no serious rival to date (not even ProTee 2009, which lacks many winning features in the TW series)?

As I have stated here numerous times, the PC version has been falling in sales and revenue the last several versions. This was confirmed to me in a teleconference with EA Friday, October 3. I don't think this is any surprise. The reason EA pulled TW PC for 09 is they did not want to release yet another version that lost money and did not further the series. They are currently re-evaluating their strategy with the next version of TW PC. I have a hard time agreeing with your accusation that EA has acted cowardly or betrayed anyone. Sure, we are ALL disappointed with no new PC version. However, if what you produced at your job was no longer bringing value to your customer and a return for your company and you chose to re-define or re-invent your role with the company to address such shortcomings, would you define this as betraying your company or customer?

It seems to me that they are forcing us ( PC Users ) to go out and buy game consoles in order to keep playing the series. I for one refuse to do that . I choose not to let a company dictate what I can and cannot do in my gaming. If this is their choice then so be it but in the long run EA will be the losers.

BS...why?

Who are you asking?

Keep in mind that they have yet to announce the game publicly, but they have stated in interviews with gaming websites that a PC version will be making a return next year. Plus, I have had discussions with the TW PC development team regarding the next version. Not sure what more you want short of an official press release, but that won't be coming for months yet.....

I am actually glad they are not releasing 09 on the PC, 03-08 versions were all the same game anyway (i own from 99-08 on PC).

My reason is (as mentioned) I am sick and tired of being dissapointed by the same game being release every year with a new cover (and MINOR tweaks).

I am also so very glad to hear what Tim says about EA redeveloping from the ground up and I hope the version they release next year is a 'new game'. Oh yeah, someone mentioned Custom Play Golf 09, have you seen it? It really sucks, the golf swing doesn't even look real and the graphics blow big time.

For now, I bought the 360 version of TW09 and I've got to say it is brilliant! The console version feels better than the PC IMO. Plust I get to play them on the big plasma in 1080i.

Anyway I don't know what all the complaining is about, for the past couple of years on this forum the majority of negative posts have been begging EA to delay releases to get a better game, it looks like they were listening.

Well I must say I am EXTREMELY happy to hear that EA will be making a revamped TW10 version for PC and its been a long time coming. I was very disappointed and worried when they announced there would be no 09. I thought that this would be the end of a great franchise permanently. The game was obviously failing in its sales because of a lack of progress in the games design, lack of support and lack of overall direction.

EA basically put out the same game 5 years in a row with little to no improvements or fixes to major issues/problems, and are now realizing they need something new to light the fires of the PC golf sim players who have been waiting a long time for the next big game.

With sales dwindling and a stagnant product it seems EA has taken this year off to "rethink and redevelop" this game to get it back on track and get more users on board, this is a good thing and I am sure this time they will get it right!

If the Tiger Woods PC golf franchise is to be permanently successful it must accomplish some important things. It must evolve with PC hardware in an appropriate, acceptable and timely manner meaning noticeable graphic enhancements every year or so as the hardware permits, it must also keep the current control interfaces that were some of the major reasons for the game's success (TrueSwing?, 3Click etc).

Other important things EA needs to do is to add more content, a more "in depth" online player rankings, and bring back Club vs Club play to add a more competitive atmosphere to the online gaming aspect which will keep players interested well into the future. Also some new commentary would be nice, keeping the same announcers is fine but they need more variety in what they say.

More courses is a must, a standard course creation tool included with every release as well as a new custom course server or server plugin to make it possible to upload or download custom courses directly to and from the server. More player creation options and an option like "photo game face". Better control over "online ace cheaters and streak cheaters" which is very important and quite easy to fix, as well as revamping the online ratings system to rate according to difficulty level played (advanced, Expert etc), and course conditions, as well as the rating of opponent played. Also fixing any bugs that are reported to them in a timely fashion by way of patch.

There are a lot of other things they can do as well, but all of this will cost them more money on development and that is where advertising comes in. To put out the next big game for 2010 EA really needs to spend money to bring more players in. And we need to do our part to support them. As the saying goes, you've got to spend money to make money, and EA will really need to rely on letting companies use the servers to advertise like they have been doing with 08, ads are good.

Ads generate revenue to cover the costs of servers and help them pay for all the new content, if they revamp this game and put this much work into it, they will probably have to raise the price of the game 10$ or so as well. I know it sounds bad and some people might be hesitant to spend an extra 10$ on the game, but if they put this much work into it, i think it would be well worth it and i would be willing to spend more on the game to have a great quality product.

Another thing is that they must advertise the game on the internet more. All the years I have been playing EA's TW I barely ever saw advertisements for the TW PC franchise anywhere, not on TV and not on the Web. they really need to advertise this game more.

If EA can do these things this game will be very successful. I expect big things from EA for TW10 and I am very excited about it!

I very....very...very rarely step out of the comforts of my own site to post messages. As a matter of fact think this is the first time I've actually posted anything here.

I can tell you that the game is not dying by any stretch of the imagination. In all actuality I do not mind the break in action. I've watched over the last 4 years as the same game is released with few if any modifications. Tiger Woods 08 was a very nice improvement on the graphics end of the game.

I read every post in this thread and all I came up with is people are upset because their is no 09 version of the game, but at the same time mad because EA is dead fast on releasing a game every year instead of making sure its right.

I will admit the lack of communication between EA and its fans especially for its sports franchises is very poor. But please tell me you didn't see this coming when all the contracts were signed for exclusive rights??? No competition makes any company content. I for one miss getting emails about the status of upcoming patches and next years version. In all honesty I heard rumors that there was going to be a 2010 release of Tiger but still no official word, would be nice to let us know some information.

Tim anyway that we (club site owners) can start getting back in the loop? Shoot me a PM at CS and Ill send you my e-mail addy.

I am really pissed off about this and I don't understand it. Marketing-wise it doesn't make sense - to me. Nearly every household has at least one computer - ours has 3 - which is not uncommon. It's a good bet there's at least one game (probably several) on each computer. But how many homes have consoles? Many have none. Therefore by sheer numbers you would think that computer game sales would outnumber console sales. No?? Yet I see more and more that computer are getting the short shift on the game - and I don't understand this. Clue me in.
