Obviously you have to cater for a broad audiance, but in tour pro mode, should we really need to purchase a new wristwatch or hat or tee shirt in order to be able to hit the ball better?

Exactly. In this split they should quit altogether linking distance, accuracy, and short game to items.

Club distance should be set at a base integer for all CAGs and linked to a new set of attributes under a new system of advancement and through a series of point allocation should distance increase - often at the expense of accuracy but not always.

I'm for that!

This idea is in regards to Tour Pro mode. Remove the circle and when we zoom in the marker should give us distance and elevation only. Don't give us roll distance, don't give us landing distance. Just give us the pure distance to a point from where our ball lies (much like it is with putting). In the real world, the caddy gives the player distances for various points on the hole, i.e. bunkers, water, front and back, etc.

And give us maximum distances for each club only and make us select the club we want to use. If you want to bring some caddy like interface into the mix to give us a help selecting the club, ala what we currently have now, would be fine too.

Doing it this way will allow the development team to bring the actual distances back to the clubs. The ball flight still needs to be tweaked to better depict actual play but that can be improved with the distances. I was playing with Tiger and was about 150 yards out with a slight elevation and I hit a full 9i and was 15 yards short. WTF??? Most decent weekend golfers can hit a 9i at or over 150 yards. Also, clubs should have set distance ranges. Give users the ability to customize the setup and ball placement to change ball flight/distance.

My biggest issue with the current setup is there is no carry distance for bunkers and water. The circle is supposed to show where the ball will end up, but if you have a tight shot to the green over water, more times than not my shot will end up either over the green or in the water.

I know it's a video game, and it's one the I love to play. However, I don't see why having a realistic simulation mode in the game would be a bad idea. If we can put a man on the moon and the Internet on our cell phones, you guys can surely give us a true console based golf simulator.

Hi Mike,

I am up to a level where I hit drives 320 yards plus.
But opponents like Tiger etc, only have a maximum distance of about 253 yards. They are only B grade golfers.

This is not good especially in match play where I can win too easily.

How can I update the pros distance level to a logical point - similar to how far they actually hit it?

Tiger Woods 2005 did have them hitting it the correct distance.

The driver is too long, and I think the ability to "HOLD" your club at the top of the swing and time % from 122% down to whatever you like is wrong makes the game a joke Imo.

uh ok
lets say everyone with a swing speed with a driver of 100 mph(me)
no wind
hits a 9 iron 150
ok if i nuke one it goes 160 with backspin ends up 158
hit it soft 142 bounces 143
ok so dont eliminate boost eliminate the huge difference in the game
for example if i nuke my 5 wood it goes the same distance just flies all the way

if i nuke a driver into a 20 mph wind god knows where its goin
i know this and thats why i refuse to do it

I dont know if this is the right spot so if not sorry.

I dont post much here but I have read a lot of the posts. I just wanted to give some input for any changes made in the game for 11. I only play tour mode.

FIrst off the club distances are retarded. I play in a league and we cap it at 9. We play tour mode always and make the course hard as possible. We still see sub 60 sccores. Not always but it happens. What are you guys thinking when you make these distances? I mean a SW goes 140 yards? Thats just one example.

The ball that shows your swing in tour mode should not be there till after your swing or only in a practive swing. That is a no brainer. Also almost all the high ranked guys I lay pause at the back of the swing. This also should not be allowed. Once you start the swing you should not be able to stop and or hit the ball. So if you stop you have to start over. ANother idea is having a more risk reward for tour mode. We should be able to hit more than 100% at times if we want. Just make the sweet spot on the club decrease if we try to swing harder.

Flop shots? Totaly un realistic. Do you guys play real golf? It is one of the hardest shots in golf. No way you should be able to flop the ball 80 yards. This also goes back to the ball with the swing line and the pausing at the back of the swing.
draws and fades should be a swing mechanic not a pre swing setting. I think in 07 you had the blue and yellow lines. That is way more realistic. That should be changed also. Makes for a true swing because not knowing exactly what is going to happen in your swing is golf no?

ALso why cant I see my oponants ball? That has to be fixed as well. Not to mention the the camera angles.

ALso give us a tour room for online. How many times do I get guys that quit because there is no boost or spin. I guess they cant read the room settings.

IF you guys are going to contnue to have a powercap make it so we can save it? That would be nice.

Thats all I can think of for now. I am sure some of this has been said already.

Thanks for listening.

thanks for the post and the good ideas...unfortunately for 2011 its almost getting too late for them to make any major adjustments to what they already have but keep the ideas coming...

the reason for the club distances is because there is more than one crowd that EA has to make happy...there are people that want simulation game exprience and others want arcade...at least thats how i take it.

i like the idea without having the ball that shows your line and stuff for the swing...

flop shots are also very unrealistic like you said and it has been brought up to the developers and we'll see if they do something about that.

tiger woods himself actually wanted to way draws and fades were fixed because he said he doesnt change is swing that drastic, hits more of clubface position to him...

good post though

I hope the irons are better in 2011. In this game they always come up short. When I drive the green I always have to go 2-3 clubs beyond where i really want to put it. Even with an elevation drop to the green and no wind, it still falls 50ft + short.

the actual reason behind the irons coming up short is the aiming circle is based on where the ball would end up (after the roll included) on the fairways you're on...so if you're playing very fast fairways, the club actually reads farther than i would on slow...so its necessary to go into the club tuner and find out how far your clubs land instead of relying on the circle because its kind of a guessing game with the circle...hope this helps

Hi

I am a PGA pro so have some idea what I am talking about with regard to golf.

I would like to see the distances restricted to make it more realistic. When I play, I have 5 or 6 wedges in my bag, this would never happen in real life around courses that are 7000 plus yards.

I think the following distances would be fair for 100% swing

Driver 300 yards
3 Wood 260 yards (but with more carry than is currently allowed, prob about 240)
5 Wood 240 yards (with 220 carry)
7 Wood 220 yards (almost completely carry like a real 7 wood)
1 iron - get rid of this, no one uses them in real life)
2 iron - 230 yards, but with a lower flight than the woods, with a higher flightand maybe the option of a hybrid instead with a higher flight
3 iron - 220
4 iron - 210
5 iron - 200
6 iron - 190
7 iron - 175
8 iron - 165
9 iron - 150
PW - 140
GW - 130
SW - 120
LW - 105
HLW - 90

This would be more realistic to the PGA tour.

On club tuner you should be able to tune each individual iron plus or minus up to 5 yards so you can fill the gaps you want exactly, again more realistic.

The power function should be allowed but also rstricted down to an extra 10% so 110% maximum, again more realistic. However if you use the extra power function, any mis hit should be made far worse.

Hopefully this will restrict some of the crazy online scores. I am currently playing the weekly event a Doral, and someone is 112 under for 4 rounds, on the PGA tour this week at the same venue the winner will be about 16 under.

Thanks

Hi,

My first post

Ive been playing PGA2010 for about 6 months and with a good following wind I can hit 480 yards (I have proof)!! Im now finishing -60 in some tournaments on the hardest setting with bad weather, which is unrealistic IMO.
Im pretty sure the software doesn't like me anymore as sometimes instead of stating 362 yards drive it shows 189yards max whatever club i use. I then have to save and quit and come back in then its fine. I still love the game and looking forward to getting 2011.
Get rid of mini games too and update the commentary as its always the same quotes.

Keep the great work up

Opposite of the club distance, how do see the "Yards to Pin" in my view on the Wii Platform for Tour 11?
