In hidden realignment news, Syracuse and Pittsburgh have applied to become members of the ACC. Mind = blown. Looks like Baylor and Iowa State's backup plan is going to hell, warm the C-USA buses up boys! I bet SEC really is glaring at the strongest piece in the Big East puzzle...West Virginia. Or, the ACC is preparing to be raided by the SEC for VT, FSU, or Clemson. Odds are strong that the "superconferences" are coming very soon. And now that the Big East is uneasy, TCU may look for a home, my prediction is possible courting from the SEC and Pac-x.
So to sum it up...
Big East: Facing degradation from founding member(s), TCU shaky, WV looking SEC
Big XII: A&M good as gone, OU and OK State looking west, Texas looking ACC, Baylor & Iowa State backup plan is crumbling, Texas Tech = Who knows?
If everything falls as it looks, the Pac-x might chase little cousins Boise State and Nevada, SEC would take WV/Missouri or steal from ACC, ACC hits possibly 16 by snagging Cuse, Pitt, Texas, and if bestie TTU wants, them. That basketball superpower looks like a second-tier conference or a second-class wreck. Big XII is on life support, with the big day being Monday. Mountain West, WAC, C-USA, Sun Belt, MAC, BYU, Army and Navy for now are unaffected. Notre Dame looks on uneven ground with this earthquake of conferences, look for the Big Ten to try and assure them. BYU is probably one of the safest teams, as they will be set for a good 5 years, but from there, its game on for conference courting.
I guess the map of the US doesn't matter in regards to conferences, with Texas schools heading east.
