I`d like to suggest we start making a list ofgoalie animation/motion capture fixes and changes to forward to the developers, for NHL13.
I`m sure we could possible go through every one,....and I`m down for that.

I actually think that there are some great ones that don`t really need any fixing at all, other than better graphically.
There are a lot that are great but need just a little tweak concerning something,.....and then there are the ones that are not very good and the ones that stink and need to be taken right out of the game.(1950`s post hug)

For example,....for the human controlled goalie:

When in butterfly stance,..if you try to go into paddle down, the goalie gets to his feet, then drops into the paddle down stance.
There is no need for doing that,...he should only have to drop his arm into the paddle down.(I know it`s actually more than that,...this is for simplicity in the explanation)

1950`s post hug:

Get rid of it,you have some great looking modern post hugging styles/techniques,that we don`t see enough of because of this 1950`s abberation.

The goalie free skate animation:

If I was rating the skating skill of a goalie in the real world that skated like this, they would get a poor rating.
I`m not saying it looks unrealistic,...I`m saying it looks like a crappy beer league goalie`s skating.

I know 16 yr old female goalies that skate better.

Shooting/puck handling:
We need/want better everything here, including the abilty to move.

I agree. When we get the puck we should be able to skate. If they added that then goalies would be able to get better position and avoid those diving forwards.

Something that I defiantly want is improved poke checking! The goalies stick in this game for human goalies is practically useless. In real life the stick is one of the goalies main weapons to thwart the opposing offense. We should be able to breakup cross crease passes with the stick! When a guy comes in too close on a breakaway we should be able to effectively puck the puck, and not just poke in an animated forward motion.

will these questions ever be answered?

1. does breakaway xp make human G better on breaks?

2. does pokecheck xp make human G less likely to knock the * puck into his net after a successful poke?

1.I think it does work. The description of th attribute says it modifies the goalies saving ability when in a breakaway situation only. The only problem with that is that this game doesn't recognize all breakaways that happen in a game. I think the only time the game recognizes it is when the guy enters the zone all by himself with no defenders in the zone. You can test it yourself. Play a game and try to count how many breakaways you think you faced. Then go look at how many the game says you faced.

This year since there is auto breakaway save moves I think that a Higher breakaway will increase the frequency and re activeness of your goalie to preform these desperation breakaway saves.

2. I do not know for sure, but I'm assuming no. I have never really put anything in top there since I don't think it helps humans at all.

Yes ,the breakaway attribute works,....but,I`m finding that unless it is almost pegged you`re not going to be too great at them or see some of the auto save animations.

I really had to move this slider into the 90+ range for cpu controlled goalies(human controlled teams),to make them even remotely good at breakaways.

Same with poke checking,....in my goalie edits,I`ve increased the ratings for all the goalies,....in order for them to use the poke check more, and it`s still not good enough.

im asking really about online only. breakaways i just cant put any xp pts into cause i cant afford them there. but pokecheck its very tempting to put it up to 90 and see if my guy pokes quicker or has more effect. i was thinking it would make a difference like it does for a skater. my real issue with poke check is the puck still trails into the net waaaay too much after i make contact. pokecheck should blow a play up (on occasion) and send the puck flying out of the crease but this never happens

Online, with the lag,..the poke checks are almost always late.

Late, and the way the stick just flashes out and back in,it sometimes pulls a puck back into the net.

It`s just another neglected, half way implemented goalie feature.

I'd like some of your guys take on this. usually i've kept my speed around low 80's for my goalie and recently I put it closer to the 90's. The thing I've noticed is I seem to be over sliding alot more now and kind've wilder movements in the crease. Do any of you guys keep ur speed low? Cuz I'm feeling I was fast enough around lower 80's and I'm thinking anything more is overkill and more harm than good.
Or should I just wait til I'm used to the new speed?

Your size and weight should be playing a small part in how you move.

I have seen what you are describing though,...and if I had large amounts of EXP to experiment with you could probably build a pretty solid goalie without throwing a lot of exp away on speed and some other attributes that aren`t really that necessary to build up.
