raise up the ride height the problem is the car bottoms out and with a stiff suspension it just keeps bouncing as far as the invites theres nothing you can do but if its ur car raise it up soften up the suspension but read through each part on the bottom it helps alot as to what the car will do

video lag is a symptom of overheating in alot of cases... did you OC your system, and does it meet minumum requirements without OC'ing?
had the same problem today because someone shut the air conditioner off and i didnt notice since i have a "blizzard" fan on me when i drive... it can happen in any application thats demanding.

I just saw this thread after i posted about my issues.
EA - I have a PS3 and I'm currently experiencing the EXACT SAME ISSUES as everyone here. No point in going into detail, it seems like you're aware.
thank you

Instead of being told by the ea service people that I have a car that will not move because of a broken engine?!?!?!?!
The car has the stock settings, yet will not move? He told me to come here and find the answers. all I seem to find is that every one else with a ps3 has the same problems! This may be the last nfs purchased by me! Maybe I can trade it in for a used prologue

It's not the car, I've tried all settings possible.. it still bounces off the track.. I know a lot when it comes to cars, it is definately not the car's fault.. And about the corvette that won't move, it's the physics of the car(the programing) that is wrong.. I'm preety sure of it. We all need a bug fix, a huge one the kind that needs an entire day to download and install
Nubishdubishone I've got the ps3 system, there's not any overheating.. But on PC that's a probability of course..
AND EVERYBODY! go to the forum where we can tell ea what we want for the next nfs game.. tell them to make a ILLEGAL STREETRACING !SIMULATION! GAME, with the physics of shift and the customization of underground 2.. That would be AWESOME! Agreed?

I give up... that's it maybe we're all just a bunch of f*cking knuckleheads.. maybe the game is perfectly okay, and we're starting to imagine things, maybe the corvette in the manufacture cup actually is driving, but we're all retarded and we can't see it.. haha, no but serious.. BUGFIX!!!

Don't ned nothing but sum Suspension & Shock Tuning (adjustment)
TUNE the car kid's
The pc version may be ok, but the ps3 it IS without a shadow of any doubt a glitch. If a ford gt cannot go in a straight line past 100 mph without bouncing it is an error. hell my f-ing nissan pulsar goes nice and smooth at 110 in real life.

I've got the PS3 version with a Logitech G25 and I've got at least 3 repeatable physics 'bugs' that I am 100% sure exist...
1. I have a Z06 Corvette with the works package...I made it to the NFS Live World tour and in the World Series (the second one) I CANNOT for the live of me complete a lap on the first track. I am not a tuner, I just like the default settings and I like to race, but I have tried messing with the suspension and ride height, and every time I get up to speed and go through a corner I get some sort of weird bounce as though there is a huge bump in the track and it throws me off the track. This is useless. I've been playing this game for a week straight to get here and now I can't finish the World Tour for anything.
2. On this same race with my Z06, whenever I launch on the very first race, I can barely get past the next car that is in front of me before the first turn...If I pause the game and hit restart race....I can launch EXACTLY the same way...and I will fly past the next car and easily past the next 7 cars or so and make into second before the first turn...this is repeatable every time until I quit racing and come back..then I start with a slow launch again. Maybe it's the flag girl that is ghosting my car slowing me down on the first launch???
3. If I use my Pagani Zonda R on the Tier 4 Supercar Restricted Series on the "Race at Dakota Tri-Oval", I cannot for the LIFE of me make an entire lap at speed (with the line green the entire time) without hitting the wall. The car will start to bounce and then there I go flying against the wall while the other cars fly by.
As others have stated, I also suffer from the flag girl in the middle of the car bug and the other common bouncing problems, like the Carrerra GT at Spa GP problems.
This absolutely pathetic...but I think the worst part is that IGN, Gamespot and ALL the other review sites didn't mention this...I guess they are becoming like the magazines and depend on the ad revenue so they can't afford to call something this anticipated CRAP.
I can tell you one thing...they are lucky they got this garbage out before GT5 because I will never waste my time on another NFS title again. HURRY UP GT5.

Playing on the PS3 with the default controller.
Everything worked great on Tier 1. It wasn't until Tier 2 that I began experiencing handling problems, most of all the out-of-control bouncing. It all seems to be somewhat car, power, and track specific, because Car A might have fewer problems at Track X than Car B, and Car C might drive much better on Track Y than on Track Z.
For example, I bought an E46 M3 and upgraded it to Works level, and I then tried to drive it at Spa. Just keeping the car on the track proved to be a big challenge. I tried a stock Cayman S instead, also Tier 2, and it drove much better. I had to lift significantly at Eau Rouge, but I was faster on the rest of the track in this car than with the more powerful M3. Next car I tried was an E92 M3 upgraded with all Level II components and it was somewhere between the Works E46 M3 and the stock Cayman S.
But the most interesting car I've driven there has been the Porsche Carrera GT that I drove at an Invitation Event, if I remember correctly. The car worked beautifully through most of the corners, Eau Rouge being the big exception. At speed, you can feel the car bottoming out before launching itself at the inside retaining wall. Slowing down and coasting through the corner, making for less spring compression, the car has a tendency to spin sideways. It ruins the lap either way.
Another track that comes to mind is Ambush Canyon. If Spa were anything to go by, one would think that the Caymen S would be the best car for the job here. It doesn't drive too badly, perhaps even better than at Spa, but there are two or three bumps on the track where the car will actually lift off and start oscillating wildly upon landing again. Meanwhile, a stock Lamborghini Reventon, despite being much more powerful, can handle the bumps and the rest of the track better, the opposite of what is true for Spa.
A stock Lamborghini Murcielago at Laguna Seca and I can't really have any complaints at all.
Here are some other observations...
The AI cars are spared. Sure, they'll do some extremely stupid things at times, but if you're next to an AI car and hit a bump at the same speed at the same time, guess which one of you is going to turn into a rubber ball?
Automatic transmission seems worse than manual. When the transmission up shifts in automatic mode, the car will begin bouncing when going from N to the next highest gear. It's particularly bad when going from 2nd to 3rd gear. When the car loses traction, like during a slide, the transmission will sometimes down shift one or two gears, initiating the hopping again, and then, upon shifting back up during acceleration, make the bounce even worse. On the other hand, in manual mode, the car will barely ever bounce, regardless of the gear and of the shift point.
Fine tuning the suspension can alleviate the problems slightly. The default settings are the softest possible. Stiffening certain settings helps somewhat, but I have yet to discover any settings that will make the handling consistent and bring the oscillations to a reasonable level.
Fine tuning the controller settings can alleviate the problems slightly. I searched around this forum and found some good settings for things like the steering dead spot and the steering and acceleration/braking sensitivity. It is now easier to keep the car under control and it does not want to saw from side to side quite as much.
Inconsistent and unpredictable handling is an issue in addition to the bouncing. It is only natural that a setup will affect how a car behaves braking into a corner and accelerating out. But I have yet to encounter a setup in any other game that can change the handling of the car from one part of a corner to the next and from one turn to the next, all on the same track on the same lap.
It's really a shame. I had high hopes even before the release and now, after having played for a few days, I think NFS Shift has great potential. But these issues really get in the way and turn the game from being great to being average.

Just a brief word to say that I'm another PS3 user getting the same problems. I submitted this to EA Technical Support (which is SUPPOSED to have a 24 Hr response SLA) but that was 2 days ago and, guess what? I've not had a response off them.

No tuning will cure this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odDErgoojJ4
or this (after 10/20 seconds or so): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9Gf4fKKoEE
And even if it would, there is no excuse for an upgrade to behave like this by default. I can confirm this is an issue for about every PS3 user I know from gtplanet.net.
