To determine what 25 CBs are playing the best football......Attempts (passes thrown at the CB), total yards (including penalty yards), yards per attempt (YPA), TDs allowed, incompletions forced, non forced incompletions, pass deflections, INTs, safety help, man/zone coverage, level of competition, efficiency, hot and cold streaks, and pass rush. This article is intended to open people?s eyes and minds as to who are truly the best CBs in the league. The number in parentheses is the players ranking from the previous week.

I never cared for metrics much, but interesting none the less

this is 2 weeks ago, congrats!

you can see that just putting a list of the top metric guys is stupid.. thats why its not the only thing to look at..

look at some of the guys on that list...

But... Where's Rashean Mathis?

I dunno, the top 8 look pretty solid to me lol, looks like a realistic portrayal of dominance

dunno bout the list...some people up there i expected, BUT i'm a rams fan and i know Bartell should NOT be anywhere in top 30 lol.

this isnt even taking into affect interceptions, pass rush, system, nothing.. its just purely ypa, which arent even ADJUSTED YET.

mathis's raw ypa is roughly somewhere around 7.03 to 7.15 ypa depending on a pass or 2 if its counted in his metrics...

once that gets adjusted for the competition hes covering, it will go down a lot, just like last year when his went down by .6 cuz of the guys he covers.

like you say, you watch a CB to know if hes good or not... 1 HUGE play could make a CB go from 5 ypa to 8 ypa....

for instance... look at woodson right now... that was 2 games ago, once they add in the last 2 games, he wont be in the top 25 ypa, it will probably jump to about 7.5 or 8 ypa... all because of 2 plays.

you got to be weary of what you are looking at...

and for anyone saying finnegan is avoided ( ANTWAN) ... he and rogers are still the most thrown at CB's....

For Aso, the guy has no pass rush what so ever on him team and plays man to man coverage pretty much all day and is still the best corner in the NFL...

which is amazing why they are in the top 10. But yeah, Metrics only tell half the story.

its kinda odd that the top 8 are corners we know should be somewhere in there, maybe not the top 8, but at the top, but since mathis isnt there, it makes everything irrelevant

if there are some good corner there, it has to mean this is somewhat accurate, somewhat

Man I knew Hayden was having a good year.

But honestly, where is Mathis? I know everyone is going to sit here and bash Krazy and say all of this BS. But everyone here knows that Mathis is still a great CB and is easily top 5. This is just proves that you can't go off of metrics on rating CB's.

what do you not get??? accurate as what??? ranking the ACTUAL top 25 CB's??? do you REALLY think its an accurate ranking???

ALL THIS IS DOING is ranking the TOP 25 in terms of ypa.... THATS what its ranking..

metrics do NOT make a CB ... they HELP you look at things... you HAVE to look at pass rush, who they cover, interceptions and success percentage.... something these do not list.

is it interesting to see where guys are at? sure.... this is also 2 games ago
