We have just released a new Origin version which addresses the issue where some players would be told they didn't have a Mac OS version that met the system requirements (10.7.5 and above) even when the requirements were met.

To get this version of Origin perform the following steps.

  • Open Origin

  • Select Origin>Application Settings

  • Under GENERAL ensure "Origin Beta Participation" is checked

  • Close Origin

  • Restart your Mac

  • Load Origin and it should automatically update

  • Install SimCity

Please post in this thread if you continue to get the OS version error after updating Origin.

Note: If you have a HD3000 GFX setup you will require OSX 10.8.4

Do you get the OS version error or a different issue? If it is a different issue please create a new thread explaining what you are experiencing instead.

Have you got the Beta version of Origin and not the latest stand alone version?

1. Launch Origin.
2. Go to Preferences, General tab.
3. Scroll down and select “Update to the beta version if available”.
4. Re-launch Origin and you will be prompted to update to the pre-release

I updated Origin to the beta and I still have the problem. I deleted SimCity several times to make sure. Rebooted. Each time, same thing. Dont meet minimum requirements.

For reference:
Macbook Pro
i7
16GB RAM
100GB Free HDD
OS 10.9.1

Hi, I have the same problem with mojopitbull. My OS is 10.9.1 and I can't play simcity because the warning message said it needs OS X 10.6.

What should I do?

We are speaking with the Origin team about this and will let you know as soon as we get more information for you to try again.

mojopitbull and fsiswanto could you open your SystemVersion.plist file and paste here what you see in that file or PM it directly to me if you wish.

fsiswanto could you zip that file and upload it somewhere and send a link to me?
We notice an oddity in the copy/paste we didn't expect and want to see if it is just a forum formatting.
