There's no "best" formation. It's about your playing style.

Seriously depends on your players this year! I play 4-3-3 with Marseille and it clicks really nicely for me. Tried 4-3-3 with Liverpool and it was awful.

This. Its about what suits your style best... as well as the players that suit the formation. For e.g. you wouldnt see MANU playing a 4-3-3

Don't think there is any cookie cutter tactics anymore. It's all based on players.

However, tweaks to individual formations will pop up somewhere eventually. Give it time.

Everyone will eventually be playing 5 in defence again, dont forget it is fifa 11 with a new coat.

Can anyone tell me the default Liverpool formation?
Playing as them so much last year i feel that i am conditioned to the 4-2-3-1.

depends on what team your playing with, i normally use 4231 or 41212

or 433 with certain teams/or 4321 similar.

I use 4-4-2 in Ultimate team.

It`s about both your style of playing and the team you`re using. Does your team have a good CAM, speed or strength oriented striker(s), good crossers, fast wings etc they all determine what formations are effective.

Aaand of course if you`re one of those "I only use top 5 teams" noobs, forget about the player stats because most likely you don`t need to consider them.

4-3-3 (2) works for our club, but it really depends on your playing style.

4-2-1-2 seems to be the most popular again.

4-4-1-1 seems a lot more popular than it was for Fifa 11. No idea why.
