Roberto Martinez has made a positive start to his Blackburn reign, with the signing of four players. With all
the key areas strengthened and only £14.6 million spent, could this experiment lead Blackburn to success this
season?

First to arrive was young goalkeeper, Alex Smithies, from Huddersfield. The Huddersfield native has been attracting
interest for a while now, but when Blackburn offered £2 million, the Terriers board could not say no.

To strengthen the defence, comes two solid signings. Ghanian Daniel Opare joins from Standard Liège, in a 3.6 million
deal. The young right back, posses great speed, which would comfort the fans that thought Blackburn were looking a bit
sluggish last season. With the centre back position lacking depth, Martinez brought in 25 year old, Adrian Mariappa from
Watford. The English centre back made 216 appearances for the Hornets, but after attracting interest from Premier League
teams, the Chairman accepted a £4 million bid from Blackburn.

The last signing of this transfer window, was a former Manchester United striker, Fraizer Campbell. The young English
man possesses great agility and speed, vital in the Premier League. He moves to Blackburn after a two year spell on Wearside.
Blackburn ensured that the spell came to an end, with a £5 million offer. This means that the striker combinations that Martinez
will have under his choosing is, Modeste – Campbell, Campbell – Yakubu or Yakubu – Modeste.

Josh Morris
has failed to reach the standards set by Roberto Martinez, and will join Scottish side Killmarnock for £525k. Bruno Ribeiro was
also sent packing, moving to newly promoted Serie A side, Novara, for £900k. Goalkeeper Mark Bunn will be departing
from the club, joining Championship team Portsmouth in a £300k deal. The last outing, is the biggest. David Goodwillie
leaves Blackburn to join Scottish Champions, Celtic. The Scott failed to adapt to the new surroundings, and was set packing to
Glasgow for £5.5 million.

There are also other departures, but only for this season. Anthony O'Connor is returning on loan to Ireland, joining Shamrock
Rovers. Youngster Adam Henley is joining London club Milwall, for the season. Staying in the Championship, promising
youngster Jordan Slew, is joining Coventry until the end of the season. Robbie Cotton is joining League Two team Dagenham
and Redbridge for the season, while in one of the most weirdest deals, James Knowles joins Sogndal in the Tippeligaen.
