Agree that they have one of the best following supports behind the team, yet best fans, I think not. They become irate if you chant something they dislike and can't take any banter.

Plus do people from Yorkshire really have much else to do other then follow one of the teams around that area.

As I know in London there are many shops and buisnesses open on the weekened so this would kill Away attendances if that specifc person supported one of the lower league teams.

"We're the best team in London, no the best team of all, everybody knows us we're called Millwall, let em come, let em come, let em come, let em all come down to the Den!!"

In the championship last season most of the teams were from up north, i.e. not many southern based teams in the league so us (Portsmouth) and most of the other London based teams etc are lower in that table as we have further to travel = more money so less fans make the trip.

As most of the teams are based up north it's a shorter journey most weeks for those teams so they take more fans, for example we (Portsmouth) took 4,000 fans to Reading last season which was one of the most all season at their ground, but those 4,000 fans don't want to or don't have the money to travel every other week to the likes of Boro, Burnley and Sheffield United etc.

Although next season their are a few more teams from the south (Brighton and Southampton) so hopefully we will be higher up that list next season.

I suppose we'll have to struggle on with a 40k average attendance again next season.
